Ummm ok this article is dated yesterday but they just used old recycled quotes.....

Jackson Rathbone: I have a crush on Avril Lavigne

The actor is best known for playing vampire Jasper Hale in the successful Hollywood franchise and can currently be seen in action movie The Last Airbender alongside Dev Patel.

Jackson has revealed he is attracted to women who are confident and artistic, insisting personality is more important than looks. Even though Avril is dating The Hills star Brody Jenner, Jackson can’t help but gush about how sexy she is.

“I don't really care about the way she looks. I like strong girls who believe in themselves,” Jackson explained to Bravo. “She should know exactly what she wants. I think that's sexy. I would love to date a musician, therefore we would have the same passion. Avril Lavigne would be great. I am really into her. I think she is ridiculously good looking, I’ve always been into punk rock chicks."

The 25-year-old went on to reveal he once injured himself while playing with fireworks. The accident happened when Jackson was a teenager and he ended up being rushed to hospital for treatment.

“When I was 15, I played with fireworks,” he explained. “They exploded when I was still around - and suddenly I had a huge wound on my knee. It bled profusely and I needed to be brought to the hospital immediately. I was really shocked.”

SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM

Contrary to popular opinion, The Twilight Saga isn't just about Team Edward or Team Jacob.

Other than Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, the third hottest guy from the successful movie franchise is surely Jackson Rathbone, who plays vampire protagonist Edward Cullen's quietly intense brother Jasper.

And the best thing about being on Team Jasper is that we can claim him as our own.

Well, sort of.

That's because Texan actor Rathbone was born in Singapore some 25 years ago.

Too bad he couldn't remember much of his too-brief time on our shores; his family - dad's an oil executive - moved to Jakarta, Indonesia, when he was just a month old.

But Singapore Twi-hards, listen up - he would love to return to his birth country and have you play tour guide.

Rathbone told FiRST in an exclusive interview over the phone from Tokyo, where he was promoting his latest film, The Last Airbender: 'I've been making plans to take a month or two and travel around the world, go back to all the places I've lived. And I really want to spend at least a week or two in Singapore - see where I was born and see where my parents lived at the time.

'My older sister was born there as well.

'Can I come back? Am I invited? Say hi to Singapore for me!'

When we replied that Twilight has a rabid local fan club here, he chuckled: 'Excellent. That'll be lovely; they can show me around.'

And then Rathbone - who admitted that he's 'seeing this girl back in Los Angeles on and off' - turned on the Southern charm.

He added cheekily: 'I'm single right now. I like to go on dates, but I'm definitely not attached or tied down.

'If you can set me up on any dates, that'll be great! When I get to Singapore, I'd love to explore that culture.'

What he does recall about Singapore though is an amusing story passed down from his parents.

'I was actually a C-section baby. They got me out at the last possible moment. The next day, my mother got up and went shopping! The hospital was right across from the mall.

'My mum is a real hardcore Southern woman. She's like, 'Ain't no surgery gonna keep me down!'

But back to the present - and what was probably the craziest week of Rathbone's life, when both The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Last Airbender ended up becoming the top two movies when they opened on the same July 4th weekend in the US.

They earned US$69 million (S$93 million) and US$40 million respectively.

In the latter blockbuster - a family-friendly fantasy based on the Nickelodeon cartoon of the same name - he plays warrior Sokka from the Water Tribe, who has no bending powers but throws a mean boomerang.

He said: 'It's definitely a far cry from when I was 18 and moved out to Hollywood with a guitar on my back and didn't have anything to do.

'Now I travel all over the world and I get to be in these two huge movies. It's a dream come true. It's so exciting.'

And so far, 2010 has been great to Rathbone - what with Jasper finally moving from background to foreground in Eclipse and Sokka clocking major screen time.

He said: 'I've been excited about performing Jasper's back story for a long time - ever since the first movie.

'And once I found out I landed the role in Airbender, I was extremely stoked. And then once they told me that the movies were coming out back to back in the US, I was like, oh wow, this is going to be quite some year for me.'

So did he have more fun playing Jasper - who is the best fighter among the Cullen vampires and possesses the power to manipulate the emotions of those around him - or Sokka, who is blessed with, well, zero special skills?

Moonlighting

Rathbone - who moonlights as a member of 100 Monkeys, a rock band he formed with four of his pals - said: 'It's hard to say. Both were such incredible adventures to go on.

'I was very lucky to go from Airbender and all the mixed martial arts training we did for months into filming Eclipse, where I used all those new abilities I've learnt for Jasper.'

And he's certainly not complaining that both films allowed him to show off his romantic side, as he shares kissing scenes for the first time with his female co-stars (Ashley Greene in Eclipse and Seychelle Gabriel in The Last Airbender).

He said: 'It's pretty great! I've always been a character actor in theatre, not so much the romantic leading man. But I will be honest and say I got into acting for the girls.'

The laid-back heart-throb also hasn't let TheLast Airbender's harsh reviews dampen his mood at camp.

He said: 'Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I think the box office really speaks for itself.

'The American audiences have flown by what the critics said, and at the end of the day, we make movies for the audiences. We don't make movies for the critics, who are there to express their opinions.'

With the movie's encouraging box-office grosses, Rathbone is looking forward to a trilogy, which was director M Night Shyamalan's original plan.

He said: 'Hopefully we'll be able to do Book 2: Earth and Book 3: Fire (the second and third seasons of the TV show), as the series constantly gets more engaging and exciting, the characters do a lot cooler stuff, there's a lot more manipulation of the elements and some more romance.'
