It's gorgeous outside.
I think I just creeped out this nice old homeless dude though. I had just gone to my truck on my lunch break and was walking back toward the library. I was standing in front of the old Melting Pot getting ready to cross over University Avenue. All of a sudden I heard "Georgia on my Mind" being played from somewhere. This guy across the street was playing it on his phone and he was just standing there listening.
When I crossed I told him that I could hear Ray Charles from across the street and it was very nice to hear. Since it was such a nice day, I sat down on the steps sort of near him to listen too. He was polite and he asked me if I liked Ray Charles. I told him I did. But I am terrible at small talk and there was just an awkward silence after that.
Then he told me very politely to have a good day. He commenced to ruffle in his duffle bag for headphones and walked about 10 feet away and stood there for a while.
So...I believe I scared off the nice homeless guy from enjoying the day and listening to music.
As my husband said when I told him this. "Way to go. You're 'that' creepy lady."
After that discouraging social exchange I went to the courtyard in the back of the library and lay in the sun on the benches and listened to Sam Cooke.
Loud.
From my phone.
Just in case anybody else wanted to hear.
