i've had a few

The first time I ever read Vonnegut was a few years ago in Bali Indonesia. I was at a flow arts retreat in Ubud. I had shirked all the workshops that day because I wasn’t feeling 100%. Instead, I walked down to the open air library and searched for any book that was in English. I ended up with Cat’s Cradle and spent the rest of the day laid out next to the pool or sprawled out on the couch on my veranda completely immersed. I was actually able to feel like my old self again.

That self is a long time between other selves.

Work selves and school selves. Busy selves. The selves I turn into out of necessity, not essentiality.

I’ve been reading like a motherfucker lately.

I used to be pretty anal and keep a list of all the books I read, when I finished them, how I rated them, etc.

Then I decided to just live and read and not worry about the statistics behind it.

I regret that decision now immensely.
