Drawing

I am taking a break from feverishly drawing for my midterm porttfolio in order to celebrate. We have an outside of class assignment we were suppossed to work on for the past 6 weeks, I of course put it off and didn't start till monday night. I did a brush and ink drawing of a duck diving after fish. I tried to draw from my imagination without any real referances. It looked HORRIBLE! I was freaking out that I would get a terrible midterm grade because I procrastinated and did a crappy job on this thing. Then it turned out he extended the due date from tuesday to thursday, so I had a few more days to try and save this crappy drawing. I covered the whole thing in a layer of charcoal and started erasing out the highlights. It looks great now, in a few minutes it went from god awful to being a pretty decent drawing. Not my best, but I do really like it. Now it feels dark and watery and dramatic, before it just looked like something I would do in jr high. Earlier I was dreading the critique tomorrow, and now I am excited to tell everyone how I saved my dying drawing. I don't know what my teacher will think, but I am happy.
