[IC Information]
Character Name: Artemis Crock
Series: Young Justice
Gender: female
Age: 15
Species: human
Appearance: Artemis is well built fifteen year old female. She's lean and muscular, showing she's a very athletic young woman. Her skin has a slight hint of being tan, though it comes from her half-asian blood. Her eyes are almond shaped from her mother, though their color is gray, from her father. She has long, blond locks that she normal keeps pulled up in a ponytail. When not out fighting crime with her team, Artemis chills in a pretty simple outfit. Over a white tanktop she wears a short, light weight brown jacket, while she also wears blue jeans and brown boots. When you catch her on the streets, you'll find her dressed quite differently. She sports a dark green suit, open and revealing her stomach and arms, as well as masking her face, keeping her identity from others. A light green arrow adorns her chest, matching the light green stripe down the side of her legs. An arrangement of pouches are found about, including one on her upper thigh and several around her waist. A quiver with a matching green arrow rests over her shoulders, normally full of arrows. Hardly ever out of her grasp is a deadly looking compound bow, matching in the two shades of green she otherwise adorned.
Personality: Artemis is just like any teenager. She goes to school, she hangs out with friends. Her extracurricular activity? Fighting crime. Totally normal, right? In fact, Artemis is part of a group of six teenage sidekicks, each with a different ability.
If there's one thing that's obvious about Artemis, it's her attitude. She definitely has one, and even from the first moment she's seen, it radiates from her. If not clear from the smirk on her face, her body language speaks it. She cockily places her hands on her hips, leaning just enough to give her that look of attitude. She knows she's good, and she won't deny it. Even if asked, she'll proudly boast of her abilities. Proud? You bet.
When she doesn't like someone, it's easy to tell, too. Wally irritated her from the moment they met, and for a while, all they did was argue. She bosses him around, fusses at him, and even calls him names at times, such as 'miss manners.' In conversation with Megan, she even refers to him being full of it. Wally definitely annoys her, especially when he flirts with Megan. After Wally spent half of episode seven lying about believing in magic, Artemis finally snapped, yelling at him about lying and screwing everything up because he was trying to impress Megan.
She's definitely serious when necessary. She fussed at Wally when he was joking around when they were in the middle of a mission, showing she likes to remain focused on the task at hand. She's also tough, and apparently not afraid to kill if necessary. After forgetting the past six months in episode nine, she tells Wally her dad probably wants her to kill him. The casual way she says this shows what she's not afraid to do, but it also shows what she was raised to do. Though not revealed, it's apparent she's been through harsh training in wielding her bow.
Though tough in exterior, she's not all tough. She can be nice at times. She gets along well with Megan, especially, having rather girly conversations with her. She also gets frightened, actually crying out in fear when she woke up in an unknown place. She did recover quickly, going back and maintaining her image of unafraid. But the hesitation and fear came back when it came to Megan going into her mind and through her memories. She's unsettled by this because it means letting someone in. She's not one to grow close to others, and she certainly doesn't want anyone to see her past. Though hesitant with her new team, there is one she's close to; her mother. Though her mother was away in jail for six years, Artemis kept in contact with her the entire time. She wrote every week, and when Paula was finally released, Artemis was there waiting for her. She obviously cares deeply for the woman and would do anything she asked of her.
It's obvious she's had a rough upbringing. Her father is a villain by the name of Sportsmaster, while her mother was locked up for six years for crimes she committed. But based on her interaction with Cheshire, it's also clear she hasn't been a perfect angel either. Having a villain know her shows she was in with the wrong crowd at some point in time, but between the fact that Green Arrow and Batman are covering for her and the fact that she wants to get out of that life style shows she is ready to change her life and can be trusted.
History: Artemis is the only child of Lawrence and Paula Crock. While Paula was in jail for six years, Lawrence raised his daughter, teaching her how to fight and defend herself, but also his lifestyle of crime. When Paula was finally released, she insisted that Lawrence and her give up the life of crime and live normal lives for their daughter. He didn't want this. He insisted that it was too late for Artemis and that she was meant to be like them.
How wrong he was. What he didn't know was Artemis was going behind his back, fighting crime on her own on the streets of Gotham. She happened across the Young Justice team during a mission, finding her "white rabbit" at last, a reference she used from Alice in Wonderland. She wanted a way out of the life she had been living, and she finally found it when she spotted and followed Superboy.
How exactly she ended up on the team hasn't been revealed as of yet, but she was introduced to them as Green Arrow's niece in episode six. Most of the team accepted her into the group, though Wally wasn't pleased. The two butted heads their entire first mission, which was to keep Dr. Roquette safe. The mission was a success, but after Artemis realized Cheshire was one of the League of Shadow's operatives, she let the female get away, afraid of what Cheshire might tell of her and her past.
In episode seven, the team gets asked my Red Tornado to go in search of Kent Nelson, otherwise known as Dr. Fate. Again, Wally and Artemis argued most of the mission. The two got separated from the others and found Kent Nelson, before Wally temporarily became Dr. Fate in order to stop Klarion. Klarion was defeated, and though Kent Nelson died, the Helmet of Fate was safe, giving the team a bitter-sweet victory.
Artemis only has a very short part in episode eight. She returns home to find she has received a scholarship for Gotham Academy, which at first, she refused going to. Paula was unpleased by this, and threatened to take away her "extra-curricular activities" if she didn't go, wanting the best for her daughter.
The team heads out of Bialya in episode nine, leading to their memories being temporarily wiped. She wakes up without memories of the last six months, meaning she had no clue about being a part of the Young Justice team. She assumes it's all a test put in place by her father and she would have to kill Wally, yet she never actually makes a move to do so. Eventually they meet up with rest of the team, and M'gann restores everything they forgot. While she goes and takes care of Psimon, Artemis and the others get Kaldur back to the Bioship and wait there. Once M'gann defeats Psimon and saves Superboy, the team returns back to Mount Justice. She's coming from after the team rests up and changes after this mission.
Extra notes: A lot has still not been revealed about Artemis. Her history is sketchy and coming out in pieces, so I only have so much to go on. |D
Cambot post sample: [Anyone hear angry footsteps? If you didn't, I'd be surprised, because a very irritated girl has just found herself on the SOL.
She isn't in the view of the Cambot just yet, but she can definitely be heard.]
Is this some kind of joke? 'Cuz I'm not laughing! [Finally, the click of her boots came closer, and a blonde was finally in sight. And she looked very unhappy. Her hands were resting on her hips just under the high rising brown jacket, a sour look on her face.]
What the heck is this place, anyways? [If she had known the Justice League had a satellite in space, she might have thought that's where she was, but she didn't know that.
Instead she huffed, stalking off out of the view of the Cambot again.]
Wally, if this is some kind of prank, I swear---!
Third-person log sample:
Artemis huffed as she made her way through the SOL, her mission clear in her mind. Ever since she arrived on this frustrating space station, she felt almost naked without her bow. How these scientists got it away from her puzzled her as well as infuriated her. In her mind, they were chickens if they were too scared to bring people here without their powers and weapons in tact.
Some told her there was nothing she could do about it, but she didn't listen. No, she was too stubborn for that. She refused to accept defeat. So her plan? Search the boxes.
She had picked up pretty fast that the boxes laying around contained random objects, and sometimes even useful ones. And seeing as she couldn't stand being bowless any longer, she began her search.
At the first sight of boxes, she rushed towards them, tearing them open to find...
Rubber chickens. She growled in frustration, knocking the box over as she returned to her feet. "Dangit." She muttered, then looked upward, glaring at nothing. "I will get a bow! And when I do, oh there will be heck to pay, just you wait!"
She didn't care if there was a scientist around or not. She had a feeling they would hear what she said, and she meant every word. She wanted out of here.
Riff sample:
"I see you have a fascination for pirates, especially fair-haired captains." Laughter still obvious in his voice.
"Tch, pirates suck. Ninja's are way better."
“I do not!" She stood up quickly and faced him, her face turning pink. "It was given to me before I got on the ship by my brother."
"Your brother? Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, sweetie."
She grabbed up the book and threw it at him. He raised his arm and knocked it away from him. He grabbed her arm and pulled her close. Wrapping his other arm around her waist. “You have a problem, if you think I could like a pirate!"
"I think you're the one with the problem, girly. Like that book would really do any harm. Doubt that throw would kill a bug."
"Perhaps I could make you change your mind, my dear. I am sure I could change your mind about a lot of things." His eyes danced with devilment as he latched his gaze onto her lips. She struggled against him, but couldn't get loose.
"If you're trying to win her over, good job. Think she'll be rooting for Ninjas next time, too."
"You devil! You are too ugly for me." Her voice going high, as she had trouble breathing.
"Am I now?" His voice soft. "That's not what the women tell me."
"Then they need glasses!"
"Oh yeah? Who says that, your mother?"
