i'll be standing on the beach with my guitar

• Yesterday morning I woke up to a flock of fifteen really large wild turkeys hanging around the yard. They've been coming around just about every day for the last month. It's neat to watch the little ones grow from half the size of the adults to so close in size I can barely distinguish them.

• Took my parents and T's mom with me on an art tour last Saturday. We spent the day driving around little used roads through the peak foliage-y woods and stopping in at artist's studios along the way. It was an absolutely perfect day for driving around, Indian summer weather. It also made me feel blessed that my in-laws get along so well with my folks. The highlight though was this one artist who had these very cool scroll looking art pieces. The scrolls were made with intricately overlaid paper and had the look of some map or schematic from a very advanced but long lost alien civilization (yes, my brain has been taken over by Doctor Who why do you ask?). They just seemed so full of stories (and the artist's mom who was there helping out confessed to us that she likes to make up stories about them too, despite the fact that her son tells her not to and not to tell people. She told us though, she was a cool lady). I really really wanted to buy one but sadly I don't have an extra $350-$2500 lying around. Maybe I'll make something similar of my own.

• I've been searching thrift stores for brown pinstriped suits because I kind of want to dress up as Ten for Halloween (my hair's the right length for it now I'll just need a lot of gel) and last night I had a dream that I found one (or a jacket and pants that went together reasonably well anyway). I never actually got to dress up though because I was suddenly in England and trying to find a party store to buy a sonic screwdriver and got stuck in a lumberyard in the a snow storm.

• Everybody in the world's probably see this completely amazing Doctor Who vid already, but if you haven't go now and watch Handlebars. I've been watching it a couple times a week since I first saw it nearly a month ago and it still blows my mind with it's perfection and amazingness every time. Also, it's a great companion to Smiley Faces (my fav Torchwood vid atm). The bouncy angst abounds with both.

• I've been enjoying Supernatural, but not feeling super excited or fannish about it and that makes me feel kind of nostalgic for the good old days. I think I am a fandom serial monogamist. Two, three years in a fandom and no matter how much I still love the characters and the world and all I just kind of wander off to something new.

• T and I watch the first two episodes of By Any Means last night and then had to really stop ourselves from just watching all the rest in one go. Adventuring is quite enjoyable even if it's just watching other people do it. It's doing nothing to curb the wanderlust I've been feeling lately. There's something about the fall light and the yellow and orange leaves against the blue blue sky that just makes me want to go somewhere. Anywhere.
