So today was the first day of classes for D term here. It went OK I guess. I like the fact that I don't have class until 10am because I am sure that will come in handy later in the term. But that only means that my day will drag out later into the afternoon, which, for me, is not a good thing. I work well in the mornings to early afternoons and then at night. 3-7pm is a dead zone for me. I just can't seem to make an efficient use of my time when it comes to hitting the books. My 10am class seems pretty straight forward. It will probably be a challenge but nothing I won't be able to do just like every other ChE class I have taken. Prof. Thompson can be intimidating but that is not going to stop me. He already assigned homework due Friday. Next, I went to my 11am class with about a third of my fellow classmates from my 10am class. I have DiBiasio there and I always enjoyed his teaching because he is very thorough. about a quarter of the class is sophomores and you can already tell a distinct difference between the Juniors and Sophomores. The Sophomores seem a lot less business-like in class. I had a 2 hour break before my PE class. I will be playing golf and tennis this term. The Elven Warlord is in my class. I just hope he is not in my group. That class only lasted 10min today. Then I went to my history class at 3pm. I don't know anybody in that class. It is American Science and Technology since 1859 which sounds really interesting. Seeing the course material confirms my interest but reading all of the 6 books could be tricky. And we have to write a 4-5 page paper on the least interesting book. The professor seems kinda lame. She still uses a typewriter to type up all her documents and is very subjective. She doesn't like teaching by the calendar; she prefers teaching by units. Also, there is reading that coincides with her teaching but the problem is it is not stated when that reading should be done. According to the syllabus we don't have to do any reading until Unit 4 (out of 21) but that reading is 300pgs long! She can't expect us to read that all in one day. Her lectures are kinda weird too because she has her notes written out on paper and she reads them without any real stopping to let you catch up on writing notes. Its like she is telling a story, except that her "story" has no punctuation marks. She writes like a kindergartener on the blackboard. Her writing is 3ft tall and illegible. She is worse than Prof. Baller and that says a lot. We'll see how it goes. It already looks like her class is going to be like Materials Processing last term, material is interesting and class is great but the professor drags down the quality of the course.
And does it seem strange to anybody else to have a ChE course in Salisbury and a HI course in Goddard?
