So I lately I have been getting daily messages from home about the declining status of grandma's condition. She has always been small and frail with blood circulation problems but now she is starting to hallucinate and think things are happening that aren't. She also occasionally relives events that happened 40 years ago down in the(Rio Grande) Valley and acts like they happened today. She lives on my Aunt's ranch so my aunt can take care of here but now she has locked everybody out of the house and refuses to take her medicine. Nobody knows how much longer this can continue especially since my aunt has her husband's medical problems to deal with as well. The family is thinking about putting her in a nursing home since nobody can take care of her in her present situation. I only get to visit her 1-2 times a year and it makes me sad to see her in this state. Last time I got to see her was at Christmas time. We knew this would probably eventually happen but not within 3 months. And now we get word that Grandpa is in the hospital for tests and thins because his body is not function ing properly apparently. He always has been an independent man; living on his own at the age of 88. We have seen a decline lately with him too because he has stopped going fishing and only really tends to his garden. His mind is till pretty sharp though cuz at family events he always has that joke that makes everybody laugh but nobody expects especially from Grandpa. He is now thinking that maybe he should give up his independence and move into an assisted living facility. :-( For as long as I remember, he has always been the centerpiece of the family. I have tons of memories of going fishing with him and holidays. When holidays come up, you go to El Campo to meet a Grandpa's house. Its just what you do.
