Some people close to me are afraid that the world will end in 2012. I'm sure everyone knows people that think the same thing.
My bro told me that his wife wanted to know what I thought about 2012, since I don't seem to worry much about it. He said that I was "wise" in those things. I dunno if I'm really wise... I just try to rationalize it, like I imagine most people ought to do.
IF the world ends in 2012, however it happens, what should you do until then? If the world DOESN'T end, but shit hits the fan all over the globe and there's catastrophic damage and war and famine, what should you do until then? These scenarios suggest dramatic change for many people.
For myself, I'd want to catch up on loving and giving and being gracious to people. People say they'd party hard and enjoy life to the fullest, but I've come to understand that material things and money and things that you can buy it with ... that's all fine up to a point. I've tried to fill holes with that stuff, but it won't do the trick, not by a long shot. It slips through, and the hole is still there, and it's just as empty and barren as it was before you spent all that money on something for yourself. It's only through love in human relationships that I can find the happiness that I need, and it's always been the hardest part of life for me. It shouldn't be that way for anyone. So if the world ends in 2012, I hope I'll have loved the most I possibly can by then, and I hope I'll have been able to be a decent friend and able to help whenever I can. I'm tired of unhappiness both in myself and in the world.
But if 2012 comes and passes and life goes on without any major calamity, what then? Should we just ... stay as we are now? Should we not always strive to change for the better?
Anyway, I'd like to know your thoughts on 2012 and how people might react to it, and how you think they ought to react to it.
