Castiel knew what Halloween was, but it's whole concept was easily lost on him. The costume part, definitely. How was he supposed to know? Clothing really was something beyond him. He'd been wearing the same outfit for the past four to five years. So he paused at the door, leaning in slightly to look for a familiar face.
"Hi!" Elton waved, making a bee line to the new face and sticking out his hand for Castiel to shake. "I'm Elton. I threw the party? Doin' alright? Nice detective outfit. Love the jacket."
Somewhat startled, but not to the point it showed, Castiel turned to look at this new person. He looked down for a moment at his clothes, right, detective. He'd done that before. Not very well... but... "Thank you." He nodded a couple times, before looking around. "It's very...big." Yeah. Social skills. Angels had none. Castiel's never developed at all, or that's probably what most people would say. Still, he knew what an outstretched hand meant, and he turned, lifting both to cup the man's hand. "I'm Castiel."
The hand shake in return was a little more... intimate than Elton expected. Some people were just like that. Elton shook Castiel's hand, trying not to feel a bit awkward.
"Castiel, that Celtic or somethin'? Yeah, we should start a weird names club." Elton smiled. "Not a bad place though, issit? I mean, the folks are a little weird, but it seems like a nice place to live, right?"
After giving the hand in his a small pat, Castiel pulled back, his own dropping back at his sides. "It's Enochian." He considered for a moment, he'd never exactly thought his name weird.
He looked around again, giving a small nod. "Overall, it seems like this world is at peace with itself. Compared to where I was, this is more like what I imagine God meant when He created Earth." It hadn't really crossed his mind to find it strange to talk about that. After all, the only person who had acknowledged him had been from another world, in a similar situation.
"Yeah... yeah, maybe," Elton considered. God wasn't something Elton normally considered. He was sure he believed but... well that was about it. Enochian, he had no idea what that meant and therefore ignored it for now. As long as he hadn't insulted the man. "Maybe less robots, though." Elton gave a chuckle
( ... )
"I do not believe God made robots, only perhaps, gave humans the mental ability and resources to do so. They aren't like this in my world."
Castiel turned, looking around the space at the various people, blue eyes switching from the outward view back to Elton, following the gesture to look as directed. He hadn't exactly heard of any of them, or known. "I've spoken to Excalibur. She is...very nice." His lips quirked into a small smile before he looked down for a moment and back up. "You must have been here long to know so many."
"Nah. Just nosy. Get a few pints in Arthur and he's hard to shut up," Elton snorted and nodded to Castiel. "Everyone's pretty nice. Everyone that's not from here, I mean. You might notice the locals are a bit, uh, anti-social, to put it kindly."
"Arthur." Castiel nodded, trying to remember who that was, but not to much success. He wasn't used to remembering things that fast. "I've noticed. It's rather strange how intent they are to not speak to you. I had thought humans would be more friendly, I only know a few."
"I mean usually we are, I guess..." Elton trailed off, having obviously mistaken Castiel for human. Well, wouldn't be the first alien he'd met. "Although, this town might not be on Earth. I mean, could be, just in the future. But we're not exactly sure just yet. I'm sure the Doctor'll figure it out soon enough. He's not at the party, though." Elton tried not to feel as horribly disappointed as he felt at that, though.
He pointed to the man in the bright green silk suit, "That's Arthur."
Castiel gave a small nod, looking through the crowd again. "I have only been to the past." He smiled faintly and looked down. "A few people I know changed any kind of future I might have thought I knew." He looked back up. "So, I have no idea what will happen, or could happen."
He looked back to Elton before at the man he called Arthur. "The one who knows Excalibur." A nod, and a small smile. It didn't seem like he could simply fly away, or back to where he was. It was probably a good idea to make some kind of mental connection to people who might speak to him over the regular inhabitants that seemed to only ignore and frustrate him.
"Arthur's sort of adopted her. She lives with him and he's the one that saved her from nearly drowning back in the other ...dimension, I guess, where a lot of the non-townspeople lived." Elton nodded and turned his gaze to Castiel again, "Did you travel with the Doctor, then?"
Castiel nodded. "That was very kind of him." He watched for a moment before looking back to Elton. "I traveled with the Winchesters. I don't believe I know who the Doctor is."
"Alien..." The term seemed strange to Castiel, but he didn't question. He wasn't sure what he even would need to ask. "They are my charges. The boys who started the apocalypse...yet worked to end it as well. Because of them, their world was saved from the wrath of Lucifer and Michael."
"Oh..." Elton nodded and sipped at his drink, unsure of what to say next. Sure, his world had been threatened it's fair share, but... "Well I guess this place is a bit of a step up, eh?"
