Regrouping wasn't going anywhere near as smooth as Lorne would have liked. He and Wesley had been back at the hotel for over an hour now. Of course, chaos had erupted upon their return. Not only did they arrive to find a still-wounded Fred out of bed, but Fred and Gunn seemed to have been having a heated discussion with Harmony. Lorne's first meeting with Harmony had been brief, but he hadn't been very impressed by her. Just by listening to her sing (as she had insisted on loitering around Caritas and taking advantadge of his generousity and free appetizers while Cordelia and the others went off to clean out a vampire nest), he'd been able to see that Harmony didn't really have much to her. She wasn't a threat, but she was far from being a help, as well, and wound up being nothing more than a hindrance. Wesley, who seemed to have promised her some kind of job interview, finally got her to agree to leave them in peace while they worked towards patching themselves up and tried to form something resembling a plan to save Cordy.
With some help from both Fred and Gunn, Lorne and Wesley finally got themselves cleaned up, sterilized, and bandaged. Now that they didn't have to worry about their injuries, they could start to focus on more pressing matters: how to make some sort of contact with Cordelia, as well as the mystery of their tall, dark and brooding leader's whereabouts. Slumped down behind the front desk, Lorne slouched in his chair and put most of his weight against the counter, staring glumly into the glass of water Gunn had brought him upon request.
"So, now that Vampire Barbie is gone... what was that you were saying about a plan to bring Cordy back?" he asked wryly, turning his attention to Wesley. If anyone, out of the four of them, Wesley was the planner. With Angel currently missing in action, Lorne thought it was safe to assume that Wesley was, for the time being, in charge. Again. Well, technically, he was still the boss, as far as the business-end of things were concerned -- but Angel still liked to take charge and play hero on many occassions. Lorne simply did his best to consider both of them the authority figures after awhile.
"Just because our last attempt worked out so well. I think I've lost all feeling from the neck down," Lorne went on with a sigh. "Hate to say it, cherubs, but I really don't think any of us are in any condition to do any rescuing right now." He looked from Wesley to Fred and back again. Gunn still seemed to be able, but he knew there were going to need more than one able-bodied rescuer if they wanted to accomplish anything.
