The idea is that we could turn practically everything that the government does to the private sector and let busines people take over. hell, some people would cross out the word ' practically' - we don't need a government at all, according to them. You want a Post Office to be open all year round in a remote country village?No way.

But that's the price of living in the country, hell I'd love to but can't afford to, maybe if more country biz's were forced to work by market forces, then village living may well be affordable for not just the affluent.

I actually see no reason at all why the fire service, like the RNLI cannot be run, or at least staffed by volunteers, hell the police used to have them, often manning the desks, but now they are on the streets too, obviously training would need to be provided and a paid team leader/manager would need to be on hand to call the shots/carry the can, but hell, why not? I've said for a while now that the St Johns sqquad, if trained up a tad further couls certainly assist with real ambulance situations, even if they just turned up to drive 2 parameds around and assist where needed, extra hands for free aint to be sniffed at.

A better management style and a different service culture is needed, I feel.a more accountable system of funding ( ... )
