Mandy and I watched Dr Who last night, and it's really scary that there is no ' next episode' previews for this two-parter!
I mean, what is going to happen to the lovely Amy Pond?
It is good that Amy and Rory found each other again , and I like the way that this ep is bringing back a whole cast of characters like Liz 10 and Dr. River Song.
However, I think Dr Who is being a bit overimaginative in calling the Roman Army 'the greatest military force of all time'.
Without a doubt, they were the best army of their age, and could have given a lot of Dark Age and Medieval armies a run for their money if not walked all over them. However, they would have been out classed by the Mongols under Ghengis Khan and his successors, as they were by the horse archers who came into Europe like the Huns and Goths.
They certainly would have stood no chance against Wellington or Napoleon, never mind the American Union or Confederate armies that fought at Gettysburg. So, it's a bit much to expect these guys to take on the Daleks, in my humble opinion. Still, I loved the way that the Doctor managed the standoff at Stonehenge!
Maybe somone will challenge the Doctor on his assertion and give him a chance to explain his logic, but I don't think his position is tenable, even in terms of Earth's history to the present day. the romans were very good - but not >that< good, Doctor!
