See the sky.
See the sky today.
See the sky today and the planes that go flying by.
The pilots, astronauts and cosmic monkeys that go flying by.
Carpentry more likely than flying,
Hammers and nails, screwdrivers and bolts.
I could build a house for you, overlooking the ocean, but
nobody can see me flying.
The closest I had been was trying to throw
a set of paper wings out of the window and watching them
loop and hover for a moment before hitting the ground with a sickening crunch.
It was only paper; my heart was in my throat.
I was sound for a moment. Fleeting as it was.
Pure movement of a sound, an echo, a step,
the beat of a heart, pulsing through space.
Dreams of glass and a will as strong as thread.
See the sky today.
See how beautiful it is.
I'm ambivalent.
