Portland, Oregon

Sorry all my fans out there for not updating recently...I know, I know...I doubt anyone ever reads my crap anyway. Total fucking drivel it really is.

This is a bit rushed and I am using some notebook pc that I keep hitting the wrong keys on...so I won't really have much time to check this entry or do any formatting..

I've been in Portland nearly a week now. It's very pretty and very hot The Open Source conference has been interesting in places. Having Gibson as a sponsor helps - a stand with loads of guitars and Pod type boxes to play around with. We visited the record shop on the first day and bought a pile of cds. All the secondhand stock sits next to the new so you can get some great bargains. Hopefully I'll make a visit to Reading Frenzy before I leave.

You should try and get a copy of Chunklet magazine. It's the funniest music publication I've read in a long while. No sacred cows are untouched. They were doing the QAs on the Mogwai website and managed to offend just about everyone.

We had corporate entertainment last night in the shape of a Seattle super-group - members of the Posies, Supersuckers and Presidents of the USA - doing 70s US rock radio classics. They were excellent! They didn't get to play any Cheap Trick though.

There was also a geek party in a retro arcade with free beer all night. We stayed to the very end. Somehow I have regained some skills at Scramble and started to get ok at it. There is another sponsored party tonight at a swanky sea-food place a block from our hotel (my room is bigger than my entire flat...there is a dining table with 4 chairs...how the booking company managed to get such a cheap rate I would love to know!).

Better get back to the conference sessions.
