Without a Word

“Jin”, he heard someone whisper his name and immediately knew who it was. He closed the door to the restroom and peaked behind a corner, finding Yamashita there.

“Are you skipping classes again”, Jin asked and put his hankerchief back into his pocket.

“It’s just so boring”, Yamashita told him and sighed. “Let’s get out and go into town. Play some pachinko?”

Jin laughed slightly. “It’s almost time for break.”

“That doesn’t leave us much time to get out unnoticed.”

“I’m not up for more trouble. I said, I’d just quickly go to the restroom”, Jin explained. “I think it wouldn’t go unnoticed if I just didn’t return.”

Yamashita sighed. “Who are you and what did you do to my best friend?”

Jin just laughed and made an apologizing gesture, before he turned and dashed off. He ran straight back to his class room and quietly went back in and to his seat.

Only ten minutes left until the ring. Ten minutes until break.

Impatiently, he remained in his seat, looked out of the window, tried to listen to the teacher, flipped open his phone to check his mails.

He hadn’t received any.

That just left him the more excited and he shifted in his seat, looking at his watch just once more. No mails meant no cancellation.

“Hey, Jin, let’s go grab some coffee”, Nishikido said while turning around, as the it rang, but found the seat behind him alread empty. Jin dashed out of the door in that moment.

Without paying attention to anyone else, Jin ran down the corridor and out of the building. He rounded a corner and climbed the stairs to the roof.

It was cold; he just noticed now that he didn’t wear a jacket. But it was sunny, so he didn’t mind that much.

A cold winter day and he only had twenty short minutes, but Heaven knew those twenty minutes were the best gift he could receive today.

Jin reached the top and saw the boy sitting near the railing, lots of chocolates in his lap and one in his hand. He had just taken a bite and noticed Jin in the same moment, a smile forming in his face.

“Want some chocolate?”

Jin took the few steps and sat doen next to him. “Which one of those is mine”, he simply asked, before he leaned in and pressed his lips to the other boy’s.

He received a smile as an answer from Kazuya. “Those are all the ones I got from girls.”

“Does that mean you don’t have any chocolate for me?”

Kazuya grinned. “I’m not a girl, Jin.”

Jin pouted. “But Valentine’s is for lovers, isn’t it?”

For a moment, Kazuya thought about that, then he took Jin’s hands, lifted them, looked at them closely, before he started to touch Jin’s upper body and hips.

The older one frowned slightly over that, but let Kazuya have his mind.

“As far as I can see, you don’t have any chocolate for me, either.”

“You already received enough. We don’t want to risk you growing fat.” Jin poked Kazuya’s side and made him release a chuckle with that.

“I’m not fat.”

“Not yet.”

Kazuya just calmly finished the last piece of chocolate, seductively smiling at Jin during the process.

“I guess I’ll take some, after all”, Jin finally said.

“Alright, you can have this one, I don’t like the bitter ones that much, anyway”, Kazuya said, but fell silent, as Jin just pulled him in and occupied his lips.

“I have another present”, Jin said quietly between kisses. “Something much better than chocolate.”

“Hm”, Kazuya just answered and leaned in closer to get more of the kiss. “What is it?”

Jin drew back and took Kazuya’s hand, smiling at him softly. “Come on.”

Kazuya blinked his eyes, but followed Jin without any resistance.

He’d probably follow hin anywhere.

They had been a couple for almost a year by now and Kazuya still couldn’t believe at times that it was true.

He wasn’t actually an outsider, but he wasn’t one of the popular guys, either. At least not with other guys. The girls were all after him and that probably was one of the reasons other boys avoided him.

Jin on the other hand was popular with boys and girls. He was friends with everyone and got along with everyone. And honestly, Kazuya knew just perfectly why. No one would ever say any bad word about Jin.

Jin was just perfect.

That’s why they kept their relationship secret from everyone. It was okay that way, Kazuya thought as they left the roof and rounded the building to the front door.

If he were Jin, he wouldn’t want to be seen with someone like Kazuya, either.

“Where are we going?”

Jin turned his head with a mysterious smile and squeezed Kazuya’s hand in his lightly.

“You’ll see.”

Jin opened the front door with one hand and went in, tugging Kazuya with him, until they were side by side. Kazuya blinked his eyes, trying to make out anything special in the huge corridor leading to the classrooms, but he couldn’t find anything.

He looked at Jin for a moment, curiousity in his eyes, but the older one just smiled and laced their fingers, before he moved forward.

It didn’t happen immediately, but they hadn’t even made five steps, as Kazuya found other students staring at them. One first, then another, two more and then a group of girls.

They stared, started to whisper, making surprised noises.

“Jin”, Kazuya murmured and wanted to stop, but Jin didn’t and just dragged him along, holding on to Kazuya’s hand tightly.

Jin noticed Kazuya’s uneasiness and disappeared with him into the next restroom, pushing Kazuya into one of the stalls, locking it behind them.

“What the hell…”, Kazuya whispered, at a loss for words.

Jin grinned. “This was easier than telling everyone.”

“Telling them what?!”

With a gentle tug, Jin pulled Kazuya in, embraced him lightly, before he kissed him.

Kazuya just stared at him. “You’re not ashamed of me?”

“It’s bad enough you think I could be.”

“You didn’t want to be seen with me up until now.”

Jin shrugged. “And I realised that it’s stupid, okay? I want to be seen with you and I want those girls to know it’s a waste giving you chocolate.”

Kazuya blinked his eyes, before he started to laugh. “You’re jealous?”

“Don’t dare giving any of them something for White Day”, Jin just answered.

Still laughing, Kazuya leaned in again, placing another kiss to Jin’s lips.

As they walked down the floor to Kazuya’s classroom later, he tried to ignore the looks and just held on to Jin’s hand.

It was new and felt slightly uncomfortable, but as Jin leaned in and whispered “Happy Valentine” to his ear, Kazuya couldn’t help but think that this gift felt just so much better than any chocolate could ever taste.
