Two concerts in one day still were exhausting, even though it wasn’t unusual. But still, he felt drained and tired.
After those two concerts yesterday, they had been brought to the hotel to get their things and get from Kagawa to Nagano as soon as possible.
Tegoshi had slept in the bus, lying comfortably over two seats, while Masuda had been awake all the time, watching him, the landscape and listening to music.
They had to rehearse their performance in the hall, make sure everything would work. But basically, Masuda had spent the day in a fitness club, making sure to train his body.
Tegoshi had been out for soccer training and Masuda wondered, whether he’d been back already, so he pushed himself out of the chair in his hotel room and got out to go to Tegoshi’s. It was already shortly after midnight, after all.
He knocked quietly and waited for an answer; as there wasn’t one, Masuda assumed Tegoshi wasn’t back yet and just turned, in the moment the door was opened.
“What is it”, Tegoshi asked, as he hurried back into his room, without looking at Masuda.
The older one followed, frowning.
“I just wanted…”
Masuda fell silent, as he saw Tegoshi falling back to the bed, staring at the TV. He followed the younger one’s view and looked at the screen, noticed it was a soccer game.
“I wondered if---“
“Massu, this is important, don’t talk.” Tegoshi still didn’t even look at him.
With a sigh, Masuda went back to at least close the door, before he made his way to Tegoshi’s bed and join him watching.
“Ah, right. It’s the world cup.”
Tegoshi nodded briefly. “The match just started.”
“Is it going well?”
“I said it just started, Massu.”
Chuckling, the older one leaned back on his elbows and calmly watched the game, while he noticed Tegoshi getting tensed and stiff every now and then next to him.
“I can’t believe it!” Tegoshi sat up and palmed his face. “How could he lose that ball?!”
“You wouldn’t have, huh”, Masuda said, amused.
“Of course, I wouldn’t. It was obvious that guy would come from his right!”
Masuda bit back a grin, just nodded. He kept on watching Tegoshi more than the game, since, somehow, Masuda had to admit to himself, Tegoshi was just cute, when he was so excited about the game.
“Oh, oh, oh, ohhhh…”, Tegoshi made suddenly, leaning forwards and his eyes fixed on the screen. “That’s good, good, good; now pass it over, pass it!” He released an excited scream, as the ball was passed just as he had demanded it and then, one of the players kicked it directly into the goal.
Tegoshi threw his hands up, jumped on his knees and turned to Masuda. “He did it! We’ve scored a goal! We’re ahead now, we can actually win this!”
Masuda nodded at him, smiling widely. He decided to not mention that we probably wasn’t the right term here, since Tegoshi wasn’t part of the team. Masuda just took it as a We - Japan.
“Don’t let him through now, don’t let them counter”, Tegoshi advised the people at the screen and Masuda watched the game beside him for a while.
“This match is rather boring, isn’t it?”
Tegoshi threw him a look. “How could it be boring, when it’s our team playing, Massu? Each second is nerve-straining.”
“They won’t get that far, however.”
“Massu.” His tone was sharp. “Really, I wish I could be with the guys now.”
Masuda laughed slightly. “I can leave; this is not so exciting, anyways.”
“Stay. If they actually manage to catch up, it won’t be satisfying enough to hit the pillow.”
“That doesn’t really make me want to stay.”
Tegoshi just fell silent and concentrated on the game again, apparently trusting Masuda to stay and watch the match with him until the end.
Masuda decided to do him the favour, since he didn’t have anything better to do, anyways, and actually - even though he wouldn’t tell Tegoshi -, he was interested in the game, after all.
Even so, it kept being rather boring, as Masuda thought. There were a few chances for each team, and Tegoshi kept commenting on everything, making Masuda grin with that.
“Oh no, he’s too close, too close, too close; he’s going to make it, Massu!” Tegoshi pointed at the TV, hitting the mattress of the bed in frustration. “Stop him!”
But, apparently, the players couldn’t and next Masuda knew was Tegoshi hitting his arm with way too much force.
“Hey!” The older one rubbed his upper arm, giving Tegoshi an indignant look. “They didn’t score!”
“But it looked as though they would”, Tegoshi tried to defend his action.
“I am on your side here, so don’t get violent.”
Tegoshi held back a laugh, then he turned back to the TV, following the rest of the game, while Masuda remained next to him, sulking.
As the game was over, Tegoshi fell to his back with a relieved sigh. “I can’t believe we won.”
“I can’t believe you hit me.”
“Don’t dwell on that, Massu.”
“You’re an idiot”, Masuda informed him and looked at Tegoshi, as the younger one crawled closer and took Masuda’s hand, pulling him down.
He curled up against Masuda and caressed his arm with one hand.
“They almost got us there, Massu.”
Knowing, he wouldn’t get a better excuse, Masuda gave in and returned the embrace.
“It’s no wonder that no one of the staff wanted to watch it together with you then.”
Tegoshi chuckled lightly. “They just don’t get fired up over a game, at all.”
“Did you ever hit any of them?” Masuda frowned at that thought.
“Massu”, Tegoshi said, trying to sound annoyed. “Of course, I didn’t.”
“They should know then. Just in case they ever end up watching with you.”
The younger one nuzzled his cheek against Masuda’s shoulder, smiling. “As if you’d go and tell them stories like this out of the blue.”
Masuda kept quiet after that for a while, his hand lazily stroking up and down Tegoshi’s back. From the TV they heard the analysis of the game, experts talking about tactics and missed chances.
“Don’t worry; I won’t”, he said then and a grin formed in his face. “I’ll save that for the next MC.”
