Title: Next To You
Pairing: Akame
Rating: PG-15
Disclaimer: We all know the story: I don't own anything and won't make any profit out of this.
Summary: It's hard to see what exactly the other one is feeling.
Is Jin feeling the same as Kazuya? Does Kazuya feel the same as Jin?

A/N: Because someone out there is my special Akame muse. So, naomi0211 , thank you ♥

Some Akame in between, before there will hopefully be more for Kamen to write about and before I'll go on posting Open Door :)
Nothing big; nothing special.
I hope you'll enjoy it, anyways! <3

Next To You

Kazuya sighed, closed his eyes and leaned his head back as he yawned and stretched.

He was more than tired and exhausted. And for once, it was not because of work.

It was because of him lying awake for hours at night; staring at his ceiling and wondering what was wrong, what was going on; if he imagined things.

He opened his eyes now and found Jin quickly turning away from him.

Was this imagination? Was he crazy?

Or was Jin really looking at him; was Jin actually feeling the same?

It had been like this for a while. They would look at each other; and there was actually nothing big about that. They had always looked at each other.

But the looks had changed; there was something new to them.

Kazuya sometimes found himself in the middle of the night calling Jin’s number, but always hanging up before he answered the phone.

He’d often lain in his bed, confused over his thoughts, confused what those feelings were and where they came from.

And if Jin probably felt the same.

Whenever Jin was not around, Kazuya couldn’t stop himself from thinking of him. Seconds turned into minutes; minutes into hours and days gotten so long whenever he couldn’t even see Jin.

He’d wanted to always know what the older one was doing, thinking of, when Kazuya couldn’t be with him.

And it had already gone way too long like this.

That’s why Kazuya thought he probably just imagined all this. Probably Jin didn’t look at him like that.

Probably Jin didn’t see him that way.

Probably Jin didn’t feel the same.

Only the thought it could be like that, drove Kazuya insane and so he kept on looking at Jin; returning those looks, enjoying every second of being with Jin.

Telling himself that they were special.

They were friends; very good friends. They had always been.

But maybe, just maybe, they were more. Something more than they had ever been; something more than just friends.

Maybe, and probably only in Kazuya’s imagination, they were supposed to be so much more than this.

He couldn’t get Jin out of his head and by now, whenever he lay awake in those nights and stared into the darkness, he wondered if he even already was in Kazuya’s heart.

If he was, then surely he was more than a friend to Kazuya.

Looking at the papers in front of him again, Kazuya tried to ignore the fact that Jin didn’t look back at him today; that he didn’t get those intense eyes to watch him.

They were seated at different sides of the table; Jin next to Ueda on the right side, Kazuya next to Taguchi on the left.

They were too far apart for Kazuya’s likings. He wanted to get closer to Jin; feel his presence at Kazuya’s side.

Sometimes, when they were going to locations they sat together in the car. The backseat was theirs; they’d always sit together behind the others, out of everyone’s view.

They didn’t need to touch, but sometimes they’d bump their knees together and then exchange a look. A one that said I’m feeling comfortable around you.

Sometimes when they were shooting for the show, they would get unreasonable tasks to do and they’d exchange looks, saying Do you remember that time?

They shared a lot; so much.

Kazuya listened to the others, bringing up ideas, discussing things and he felt his eyelids flutter.

Lying awake all night, thinking about Jin, trying to get to listen to his voice by calling him and hanging up as soon as Jin would answer; he really was foolish.

But he couldn’t help it. Sometimes Jin’s stares just lasted a bit too long to be meaningless; sometimes there was just that something in those eyes, he couldn’t ignore.

Kazuya somehow just had to get next to Jin.

When Jin came back from their break, everyone else was still gone.

Only Kazuya was in the room; curled up on the couch, sleeping. His brown hair was spread over the cushions and his eyes were firmly shut, while his breathing went slow and regularly.

Jin knelt next to him and titled his head, watching him.

Kazuya had been calling him during the nights. He’d never woken Jin up, though, since lately he kept lying awake at nights.

He wondered what Kazuya’s behaviour was about.

He looked at Jin, like that; he called at night, hung up before Jin could even answer or right after he’d have answered and sometimes he’d just have that look.

Jin wondered; if probably--- just maybe--- he wasn’t as insane as he thought he was and Kazuya actually felt the same.

Probably, Kazuya saw him like that.

The way, Jin had always wanted the younger one to see him.

But Kazuya was not his league, not at all. He was way too special, way too good, way too precious to be wasted to him.

They were getting along; they shared a special bond. They had always been friends.

But was there anything more to it? Was there any chance, just a tiny one that Kazuya looked at him the way he looked at the younger one?

Jin turned and leaned his back against the bottom of the couch, listening to Kazuya’s breathing.

Situations like this one had become normal; and Jin lay awake at nights, staring at the red numbers of his alarm clock turning to 05:00, thinking about Kazuya.

Thinking about why this wasn’t special; why they were nothing more than friends.

He wanted to be more than that. He wanted to watch over Kazuya’s sleep without acting as if it was just because there was nothing else he could do.

He could have been somewhere else right then, actually. But he didn’t want to. He wanted to be here and watch Kazuya sleeping.

It was the only way he could somehow get next to the younger one.

But, Jin thought and lifted his hand to brush a stray strand of brunette from Kazuya’s cheek; he wanted so much more.

He didn’t turn away and didn’t change his expression as he saw Kazuya’s eyes flutter open. He blinked a few times and then looked calmly at Jin; managed a smile.

Those were the moments Jin wondered if they really were just friends.

Would a friend smile like this?

Would Kazuya smile like this after he’d have spent the night in Jin’s arms?

He wanted to know; Jin wanted to find out. But to do so, he had to get even closer.

He had to be next to Kazuya in the first place.

“Jin”, Kazuya murmured and reached out his hand to comb it through Jin’s hair and caress the older one’s cheek.

Jin held back a shiver; just kept looking at Kazuya. He wasn’t sure if it said too much, but even if it did; he couldn’t stop himself from it.

“What are you doing here?” Kazuya didn’t move; his hand had sunken back to the cushions; his eyes still at Jin’s face.

Jin didn’t answer immediately; he kept looking at Kazuya, tried to find an answer in those eyes.

Affection, gentleness, kindness. Those were attributes he’d definitely give Kazuya; and he could see them now.

But was there anything special about them for Jin? Was Kazuya’s affection for Jin different from the affection he had for everyone else?

He licked his lip slowly and shook his head; not knowing himself what he actually was negating.

“I just…”

Now, Kazuya smiled and shifted a bit. His look was inviting, encouraging and once again, Jin was sure Kazuya looked at him like that.

He probably was insane--- maybe he went crazy and just imagined all this--- but he thought Kazuya felt the same.

“I just wanted to be next to you.”

Thanks so much for reading. ♥♥♥♥

I hope there will soon be something to write about for another Kamen Oneshot, but seriously, Tegoshi is doing so much better than Uchi at the moment... He is going to cook Eggplants... Oh, yes.

However, I couldn't resist this and hope you enjoyed it and liked it :)
