JAZZY!

Uh oh. That's not good. Glad to see it started working again. It seems that it was inevitable that I would come back to this pairing - it's just so twisted. >D

OMG, yes! I only expected a drabble, and I got a sequel to Music of the Night.

I loved this exchange:

"It's good we died together," she told her mate, "I wouldn't have survived a life without you."

Aaroniero stared at her. "Would you not?"

AND

"You would have found a replacement for me."

"Never," she kissed his knuckles, "no one could replace Kaien-dono in my heart."

Aaroniero chuckled. "You say that," he said, his voice dark.

I love the subtext to that conversation, and especially the fact that Mariposa is actually being sincere. With everything post-Kaien erased from her memory, she has no way of knowing that her life could go on without him. But he knows that it did, and that made for fantastic tension.

You realize, don't you, that now every time you offer up a drabble challenge, I'm going to request more for this universe? Because I am. ;)

It appears to be a curse - I start writing for this couple and then, I can't stop writing the further adventures of this couple. They're just so deliciously twisted.

Poor Aaroniero - he's as trapped as Mariposa is. And it's made all the worse by the fact that he knows that she did fall in love again after his death and that Rukia gave her heart to Ichigo before accepting her own fate. He can never own her the way he wants to, and it's just torturing him.

I would expect nothing less. ;) (And now, I'll probably end up writing a Ichigo/Rukia piece from this verse for the birthday month challenge!)
