Angel Season One: We Help People Who Need Help. Not That Kinda Help

Feb 18, 2009 19:32

So, I got Angel Season One and Two for Valentine's Day from my mom. Needless to say, I got funny looks from both parents when I requested said horror drama, but I really wanted it. I'm halfway through Season One right now and I am loving how awesome this show was.

Angel: I had totally forgotten how socially awkward you were! For the longest time, whenever I thought about you, all I remembered was how nice you were and how talented you were at kicking ass. I had totally forgotten how you were also a total dork (who everyone thought was gay). Loving the black coat and car. Those will never get old. Ever. As will the sword. Which you need to use more often.

Cordelia: Everybody's favourite bitch/sweetheart. Cordelia is one of those amazing characters who can switch from superficial former cheer-leading captain to queen bitch to nicest girl in the world. The episode where she takes on the ghost in her apartment is pure gold: "The bitch is back." Also, I love how protective all of the guys are of her. Angel is at this stage thinking of her as a little sister (oh, how that changes), Doyle is in love with her and wants to marry her, and Wesley is best English friend (which is almost as awesome as having a gay best friend).

Doyle: DAMN YOU JOSS WHEDON! DAMN YOU! Oh yes, it is such great fun to kill off a main character after only nine episodes. The least you could have done was let us enjoy his delightful Irish accent for at least the whole season before killing him off, but no! Doyle was awesome and so sweet (although not as sweet as Angel. I don't think anyone could be as sweet as Angel) and I loved how the writers wrote his relationship with Cordelia. His death was the first one in the series that demonstrated how by the time each of the beloved cast exited, they would have achieved their redemption.

Wesley: WESLEY!!! *fangirl squeal* Wesley is my absolute favourite character from both Buffy and Angel as he is the character who grows the most and who proves to be larger than life in the end despite his humble and silly beginnings. At this stage, Wesley is in his "Rogue Demon Hunter" stage, where he pops in at Angel Corp. in the hopes that they will provide him with breakfast/lunch/dinner in exchange for his services. He is not his awesome badass self from the 5th Season yet, but he is already getting there as he has an excellent shot with a gun and he likes playing with axes (and getting them stuck in walls).
