i was told that a fresh pizza is the best pizza. this came from a man behind a counter at a pizza schmizza in portland oregon who is describing the best ways to re-heat a pizza if it isn't initially consumed. his small talk is an annoyance up until this point as i jot small lines waiting for my food to get done. in the margins i write his profound, yet simple, observation about pizza freshness and how it coorilates to quality.
several weeks pass, and i find myself being lectured by photographer, and friend, tommy matthews about why i was wasting away my talent working in a office supply store. he informs me he is getting married to another friend of mine. he gives me his information so that we can get in touch, i don't ever phone him, but i do lurk about on his website looking at his portfolio of photographs.
a thursday from this month in the pearl disctrict. at the art gallery openings with d-rock. the art is of a poor level, and as we hop from gallery to gallery it seems a better use of time to make idle banter about all the crazies roaming the streets rather than the art itself. i am elitist, in that i look down and scoff at anything and everything. there is a two year waiting list to have art hang in most of these galleries, and it shows. everything is stale and detatched from modernity. i can appreciate a lot of nuances in art, but tonight i agree with d-rock. the art is uninspired both conceptually and technically.
july the fourth. i had the day off and made the mistake of attempting to disc golf at a state park. i lost my star destroyer, which i was finally starting to throw like it was a fulltime business. we dont get to finish the course due to he amount of people having picnics in the middle of the fairways. it was frusterating and only adds to my resentment of the holiday, and country for which it represents merely through assosciation.
other than that we've been playing a lot of disc golf. at least three times a week at a variety of courses: industrial, mciver, dabney, pier park, lunchtime, cock rock, etc. some of the courses up here are very good. mciver in particular is a 27 hole beast with two, aptly chosen, par 5 holes.
i purchased a star SL which is a hybrid of a beast and an orc from what i can tell. i whined about not having a star wraith with me in portland. the next day i find a 175g star wraith by sheer coincidence. i also find a dx archangel. but dx plastic can go die in a fire.
i need to draw right now. i have a lot of letters i need to send out, but stamps confuse and intimidate me.
