I'm looking for some good short stories or essays to read with high school students. They should be exciting and full of drama, and not so full of American cultural references (as these are foreign students for whom English is a second - or third, or fourth - language). Any suggestions? (I'm trying to avoid the high school short story canon.) Thanks so much!
