Happy New Year! I know I've been MIA around these parts since July, but I haven't disappeared from the face the Earth. In fact, I've been pretty busy! A 2009 summary post (and probably a separate one for our family trip to China!) is in the works. But looking ahead to 2010, it's not starting out very well.
Today is my parents' 34th anniversary, so after spending the whole New Year's weekend with them in Foster City (which was nice and relaxing), I invited them over to my place so that I could cook them lunch and cater to them for a change. About halfway through lunch, my mom starting feeling very sick. I think she felt as if she was going to pass out. She laid down on my couch, then after trying to have a go at it in the bathroom, she went to lay down in my bed. I was really scared for my mom, but my dad tried to keep calm (I'm being generous; it came off more like he was unsympathetic :p). Some quiet time in my bedroom seemed to help her enough, because after 20 or so minutes, she said she was ready for the drive home and to sleep in her own bed. I don't like seeing my mom sick! I feel so helpless. I don't want my parents to get old!!!
So... I doubt it was my food that made her sick. Food poisoning or an upset stomach usually takes an hour or more after food was consumed to display symptoms... right?! I can't rule it out, though. I feel so bad. And what an unfortunate thing to happen on their anniversary. In a few days, she'll be celebrating her birthday, too. Mom, I hope your week picks up.
Mummy!
