Just a mere
two posts ago, I reflected on how I did on my engineering exam. That is, I did bad. And yep, as I found out last Friday, I did fail. *sigh* Some, if not all, of my co-workers passed. I'm really happy for them, but I'm feeling very discouraged. Stupid test.
But a lot of things has happened since the last two posts. So many ups and just a few downs, and some things I'm not sure how to feel about.
UPS
-Seeing my cousin's kids on July 4th. I took pictures with my mom's digital camera and wish I could share them here. Maybe later.
-Finally seeing Ra Ra Riot live at Berkeley's Greek Theatre. The icing on the cake was seeing Andrew Bird and Death Cab for Cutie follow them.
-Other concerts (seeing my old favorites): Iron & Wine two nights in a row at the Swedish American Music Hall, The Decemberists at Fox Theatre, Jens Lekman at Bottom of the Hill, Neko Case at the Warfield.
-Renegade Craft Fair!
-Seeing and hearing Hayao Miyazaki in person.
-Joining a tennis team and reaching the district playoffs (it's not over, yet!).
-Roger Federer winning his first French Open.
DOWNS
-Hair cut drama. I'm over it now.
-The above mentioned big, fat failure.
-Other stuff I don't want to talk about here.
MIXED FEELINGS
-Turning one year older, but celebrating my birthday with my bestest friends with a potluck and silly board games.
-My favorites bands/musicians are coming to town, but at outdoor festival settings (either Outside Lands or Treasure Island), which I don't do.
-Roger Federer winning Wimbledon and breaking Pete Sampras's Grand Slam record, but having to defeat hard working Andy Roddick in the final. That was heart breaking.
-Though still not winning many games, improving our soccer team.
-Work ... I was really light on work, which made me worry about my financial situation, but I was assured that the company did not want to lose me. Then I got busy again. Then my boss offerred to put me on a work sharing program (if I'm short 40 hours/week, I'll get unemployment from the State). Um, that's great an all, but I really could've used it a few months ago. I need a vacation.
-My new boss just started today (my old boss went on an extended leave from around June to October). We shall see how that works out.
