Oh, wow, that's a brilliant idea! :) And it gives me a warm fuzzy of thinking that, if Snape had lived to that age, maybe he would've been like Iroh.... Hey, from like 21 to something in 60's/late 50's (no idea how old Iroh is, but he is old--yet in a recent episode it was awe-inspiring and jarring to watch him work out and lose his tea belly and get physically fit muslewise)...a lot can change. ;) (And we still haven't seen a flashback to uber-young Iroh, so...heh, bitter, grumpy young Iroh, what an idea.... ^____^)
Heh. Maybe she's kind of a Snape figure? ;-) She'll turn out to be the best of the lot?
That'd be nice. :) Admittedly, she has less evidence in her favor than Snape does; but for me, she just continually demonstrates how competent she is, and that's brownie points (I must get a kick that though she's beautiful, she never ever stoops to sex appeal against her enemies--I don't think it even occurs to her). She can be a great ruler, she has all the skills for it, except that it seems she lacks the heart for it, it seems she cares only for power, and not her people--but, y'know, Azula still seems a mystery in my mind; we just don't know that much about her. She did bully her brother--well, in a flashback, it looks like it, yet I'm always hesitant to say "bully"...I know, it sounds too low for Azula, something more along the lines of "torture." And though her bullying then may've been showing off, there is the homelife to consider: dear ol' Dad encouraging her, because her brother is "weak" and deserves it; and we have learned, it has been confirmed, that she did feel hurt when her mother spent more time with her mother. And that she did get the distinct feeling that "my own mother...thought I was a monster." *sob* Though right after, Azula says, "of course she was right, but it still hurt." It makes her utterly Azula; a little crazy after all? Maybe. Accepting of her situation, resilient? Yes. And when trying to be normal--socially inept, floundering, tendency to get carried away in her excitement. She wants the normal boys to like her, but she intimidates them without trying to! It is revealed that she is in face a military geek, which is now extremely obvious in retrospect!
I definitely know that I think that she is truthfully the worst off over everyone, the most pitiable. My opinion, from how I interpret what I've seen: from birth, either due to showing signs of prodigy power, or just out of an attempt to make up for the "failure" with her brother Zuko, or both, or something else entirely--from birth, Ozai has brainwashed his daughter, prepared her as the perfect weapon for the war, the perfect princess, the perfect servant. It's just...she's 14/15 years old, she's still young, I can't believe at her age she can be spouted as pure evil (even with young Tom Riddle, I still think something could've been done to prevent Voldemort)--but I don't know much about psychopaths, and she's been accused of being one. (Or do they say sociopath? Or both?) I don't think everything she is, is, well, of her own will. I think she's focused on her father, as her brother is--who makes a lot of mistakes trying to please said father--she is a loyal daughter, she wants his approval.
