Alphonse Elric, younger brother of Edward Elric and just as intelligent as him, came back from Homeroom and went to his dorm for a bit, seeing that he had the first period free and planned to get some study-time in. Right now he was considering to just drop off some books from his locker that he would need for is homework later tonight and then head towards the library.
He loved reading and learning about new things. Whenever he had some spare time, he could be found in the library, just reading whatever he could get his hands on. Only on the weekends, when they were allowed to go into the small town about fifteen minutes away when one walked fast, he went there to see if he could help out in one of the smaller stores for some pocket money.
Some of the seniors, and even juniors like his brother, had some part time jobs that allowed them to work every weekend. The privilege to leave school-grounds was hard earned and only students who showed the teachers that they were worth it were allowed. Being on top of their class nearly constantly was one of these conditions.
Getting near their dorm, Al started to get the key out to unlock the door. Upon entering the dorm, Al put his books on his side of the room, picked up some clothes and straightened both beds. It was only then that he noticed the water puddle on the floor. Grumbling about how he was going to make sure that his brother learned to clean up after himself, he felt a drop of water hit the back of his shoulder. Wondering what the hell was going on he looked up and noticed a spot on the ceiling that looked like there was some water dripping from it. It wasn’t much, but still, there should be none at all.
To even think that the water would dare to drop from the ceiling! He couldn’t imagine what would happen now. In all the time he was at the school here, he had never seen anything like that happen before! It wasn’t that nothing happened because the school was so new, but because Olivia Armstrong would never allow for it! Students have sworn that they have seen doors shake and tremble when she was in a bad mood. One boy had even said that he once saw a piece of paper beg for its life while faced with her! They didn't know who was scarier, her or Izumi Curtis, their martial arts teacher.
Feeling slightly worried and just a tad bit annoyed about the water, Al was going to step out to see if someone left the water running by accident or if they were hurt or something. Before he could, he got his answer. Well, more or less at least. He heard a huge explosion coming from upstairs and his guess would be that this was where the science class labs where located. There weren’t many other dorms near the one he and his brother shared, since they were located in the science wing.
Before he could figure out what was going on, another explosion shook the walls. He figured that, with two explosions in such a short interval, three of the biggest troublemakers that lived in this wing might be involved. Envy, Solf and Frank were infamous for all kinds of practical jokes that not always found a good end.
For all Al cared, it could have been the whole school dancing cha-cha. Finally daring to step out of their room, he saw some students running down the stairs while some teachers could be heard shouting at each other on the upper floor. It was easy to see that they had fled before they would be discovered. However, before he could follow to see who it was, the water sprinklers went off and all he could see for a second or two was water flowing down and getting everything wet. Just great.
Turning to walk back to their room, he saw a water-wave coming towards him. It wasn’t all THAT much, but it seemed like the boys had caused some of the pipes to break too. Al groaned, knowing that it would be a while before all the water damage would be repaired again. Not to mention that, while yes, there was a heating system, it was still FREEZING. Here on the bottom range of the Brigg’s mountains it snowed even during summer! Maybe it wasn’t much, but it still meant the temperature wasn’t exactly tropical and his brother’s automail was already acting up all the time even with the heater. The last thing they needed was for them to stay in a room that leaked. Adding wetness to the coldness would only make Ed really miserable with pain. Al didn’t want his brother to suffer more than he had to.
Ed’s automail was one of the things Al thought he would never be able to forgive himself for. After all, it was his fault his brother had them. Back as they were kids, they had to watch as their mother was killed right in front of them. Al, too young to understand their situation fully and too scared to think of the consequences, had started to cry at the sight of their mother falling to the monster before them. So Ed had distracted the killer until help arrived, getting his arm and leg cut off because of it. They both still had nightmares of that night. Even after all these years their torturer was still free. The police had never been able to catch the murderer and so slowly Al was wondering if anyone was even still searching, or if they ever did. He and Ed had questioned them again and again, but for some reason all the officials involved didn’t seem all that eager to check it out, something that infuriated the brothers to no end. They wanted their mother's murderer to be brought to justice.
Shaking his head to get rid of that horrible memory, he rushed to make it back to their room before the wave hit him. He decided that he probably should move as much as possible to a safe location in the room. Moving as quickly as he could, he moved things into the closet and on a high counter.
Once finished with that, he went to go out again to see if he could help somewhere else, or to at least find out what was going on. But as he opened the door, he saw there was no way he would be able to leave the room. Just staring at the chaos that laid beyond his door made him want to go back in again. There were all kinds of people rushing around, this way or that, helping wherever they could or to flee from the water. And as if that wasn’t bad enough, he heard to his great dismay some more explosions going off. He turned around just in time to see the ceiling give way and the water from the broken water pipes rushing down. At least he had managed to get everything he could stowed away, so hopefully it wouldn’t be too bad. Walking down the corridor he saw that their room wasn’t the only one where the ceiling had caved. It didn’t look like anyone had gotten hurt, but Al feared that this would mean there would be a school-meeting coming up. Shaking his head he went about cleaning up what he could.
"TO EVERYONE IN THE SCIENCE WING, PLEASE REPORT IMMEDIATELY TO NURSE CLAIR! AFTER THAT REPORT TO MR.MILES! ALL CLASSES ARE CANCELED FOR THE REST OF THE DAY!" the headmaster's voice boomed over the intercom system. Students shivered and stared at each other. Her voice had been icy but calm and that did not bode well for anyone at all, not even those students and teachers who were completely innocent. Hopefully she'd be a bit less hard on them and they'd only have two months of running laps for three hours in the snow. That was light compared to her usual punishments. The popular opinion seemed to be to be prepared for whatever was in store for them and to maybe consider stocking up on the cough medicine, since being out in the cold more than usual would probably leave most of them sick.
Upon hearing that, Al groaned. This was likely to mean that they would get re-located. He just hoped he and Ed would be assigned a room together again. Moving everything would be a bitch to do, same as learning the new route and all the other stuff that comes with it. Then again, they probably wouldn't be near Envy, Solf and Frank anymore. Al really hoped so because Envy hated him and his brother with a passion and he had no idea why. They stayed away and avoided Envy as much as possible, but he seemed to always find them one way or another.
No-one really knew why he was named Envy. The rumor was that he was born by a woman that was said to be a witch. After she gave birth she only said ‘Envy’ before going back to not making any sense at all, so apparently the name stuck. Al and Ed and never had anything against him, but for whatever reason he was out to get them. Shaking his head clear of his thoughts, Al started towards the nurse's office. Hopefully he wouldn't be there too long.

Edward did his best to smile as the other sat down beside him. At least he hoped it came out as a smile and not a grimace.
“Hi, my name is Edward.” He said, trying to sound as normal as possible. “When did you arrive?”
“My brother and I arrived last night, but since the gates were already locked down for the night we stayed with a family acquaintance. Luckily we did know someone around here, it was quite… cold. We’ve heard rumors about the eternal winter around here, but we never imagined how cold it would really be. This will be a big adjustment.”
Ed just wanted to ask where this mysterious guy came from when the intercom decided to interfere. Upon hearing the announcement he wanted to kill it in the worst way possible; especially when the teacher told them to pack their things away for the day. So much for getting to know the other better…
That was when the sexy guy looked at Ed with a smile.
“Could you help me find the office? I know, I was just there, but I still get a bit confused. This is quite the big complex. I already have no idea anymore where I came from.”
Grinning inwardly, Edward gave a quick nod of his head to confirm that he would indeed walk with this gorgeous man to the office and that it would be his pleasure. Putting his books and binders in his bag, he waited until the guy was ready and together they walked out of the class room.

On his way to the nurse, Alphonse passed two of their friends on their way to their dorm. Grinning, he shook his head. Trowa Barton and Quatre Winner were two of those people that just radiated how much in love they were with each other. They had already been together for four years and they were still going strong, no signs of any impending break up what-so-ever. Maybe they were one of these ‘perfect’ matches. They did amazing duets together and at almost every school function they were asked to play.
Al just wanted to say ‘hi’ as he saw that Trowa’s hands slipped out of view - one of them under Quatre’s shirt and the other into his pants. At that point he decided that looking away and ignoring them for now would be the better idea. Speeding up his walk a bit, Al hoped not to see anything else happen. It wouldn’t be the first time if he did…
However, seeing some other friends of his - a nice girl with the name Rose Thomas and Kain Fuery, another guy - further up the corridor and headed towards the nurse’s office, he rushed to catch up with them and to walk the rest of the way with them.

Upon entering their dorm room, Trowa and Quatre didn’t waste any time getting out of their clothes down to their boxers and to cuddle up under the covers. They liked to make time for each other whenever they could, especially just for some private time together. Whenever it was just about sex, they could get quite adventurous - especially Trowa - but this was different. Quatre blushed faintly as he recalled some of their little ‘nookies’, like in the music room… or in a restroom… another dorm room that hadn’t yet been assigned to anyone else... Yes, Trowa could be quite naughty at times when he put his mind to it.
Thinking about the reason they had come back here, Quatre chewed on his lip before looking at his boyfriend nervously. He didn’t want to bring the topic up, but he knew he needed to.
“You know that I have a very high chance on getting a scholarship for a music-school, and that you’ll probably get the same one offered. But this other scholarship, the one for the piloting academy that you got… what do you think you’ll pick?”
He didn’t want to get separated from his love, but he would do almost everything for Trowa. And he wanted him to be happy with his life, even if that would mean to spend a few years away from each other.
Trowa, obviously reading his thoughts, just looked him in the eyes and gave him that special smile.
“You know it doesn’t matter to me what I’m doing. You are my life and I want to be with you. No matter where that is. I can live without learning to be a pilot, but I can’t live without you.”
Pulling Quatre closer to himself after seeing the relief in those big eyes he loved, Trowa waited until his boyfriend was asleep. He felt horrible for dodging the question, but he didn't know. He knew he wanted Quatre forever, yes, and sometimes he felt that if he would go to the pilot academy he'd never see Quatre again. That was just something he couldn’t even think about. He loved Quatre, but flying was his passion. So what was he meant to do?
Tired of thinking about such an emotionally draining topic, he also closed his eyes and fell asleep shortly after for a well deserved nap. They would get up in a bit for their homework. That, together with his future, could wait. Right now the most important thing was the blond in his arms.
