Summary: He prays but prayers have never been enough.
---
He's flat on his stomach. The stone floor is cold on his exposed chest and his arms are pulled up behind him, held wrist-to-wrist in the grasp of a demon he never thought could exist. His only thought, over and over, is that he's scared. He's scared. So, so scared.
He's never felt so frightened before, ever. Nothing could prepare him for this.
The demon with the orange eyes smirks a little. One burnt caramel hand is cuffed around both of his wrists, and the other is occupied with caressing the raven-wing, feathers withering under the touch. And he's scared, and the tears -- they flow hot and fast down his cold cheeks and he turns his eyes to the floor as he is lifted by his twisted arms and his left wing easily but heavily from the floor.
Is that his blood? He wouldn't be surprised -- the vicious marks on his back, just above the wings, are stinging in the cool air, and the tears don't stop. How dare he cry?
Indeed, "Stop crying," coos the grey-haired demon in his ear, "you're only making this harder for yourself. This is what you wanted, isn't it? An angel's only dream."
Riku chokes on his tears, and Xehanort's fist tightens as he -- almost instantaneously, but that instant is like a hundred million centuries balled up into a single moment -- tears the wing from his flesh. The feathers turn to dust instantly, and Xehanort drops the skeletal outline of that which he needs more than anything on the floor beside it. Simply paper bones and no marrow to speak of -- for an angel must be light as a bird, mustn't it? Even if that angel's wings have been sin-bound and covered in ink.
The second leaves his back just as easily as the first. Blood splatters the floor like bright paint. His throat tightens, and he says nothing -- the tears come as they have been.
All he has left are tears, after all.
