"No! Without pictures, I'll forget!"
He says this because he knows it's true.
Mom sees it very well, it seems -- she never forgets to remind him, and he has grown sensitive to what she wants, thinking his choices over very carefully. If he chooses wrong, she'll tell him. Maybe she'll drive a fork into his hand again, maybe she'll tie him to a chair and leave him there, without care, for hours.
And so he takes pictures, dozens upon dozens.
Memories with Soubi, Yuiko, anyone -- because he can't forget again. Ritsuka disappeared because he forgot. He is the only one who can be Ritsuka. And so he needs to remember.
He won't forget again, he vows.
