CRKT® unveils its new Deadbolt™ technology with new Seismic folding knives.
When Brazilian designer Flavio Ikoma introduced his new, incredibly strong Deadbolt™ technology to the product developers at CRKT® their jaws dropped. The rest is history. This locking mechanism employs steel bolts that interlock with the blade when it’s deployed to yield strength that’s turning heads. A prominent button sits at the pivot point for simple, intuitive disengagement without fingers crossing the path of the blade. Of his new technology and the designs he created to house it, Ikoma says, “these are both designed to be super sturdy and able to perform heavy-duty tasks. Both body shapes resemble a great white sharks that inspires fears and respect.”
The Seismic™ is an aerodynamic, no-nonsense folding knife. With an IKBS™ ball bearing pivot system and a highly-ergonomic G10 handle, it’s as attractive as it is useful. Both the Seismic™ and Seismic™ Black are built with a G10 handle; the Seismic™ features a satin-finished plain-edge blade while the Seismic™ Black features a black PVD-coated blade with Veff Serrations™.

Designed by knife innovator Flavio Ikoma the XOC might be considered overkill but Ikoma thinks that bigger is better and in this case he might be right. This limited edition folder is the first design in the world to house the Deadbolt locking mechanism. This massive flipper comes with titanium inlaid carbon fiber handles and high performance CTS-XHP Stainless Steel blade.
Handle: The clean lines of the carbon fiber handles are elegant and ergonomic in the hand.
A titanium inlay near the blade houses the Deadbolt locking mechanism that is as simple as pushing a button to operate while delivering robust strength. Steel pegs interlock with the blade when it is deployed to yield strength that gives uncompromising reliability even under serious weight. A brass colored pivot collar adds another custom detail contrasting with the grey titanium. The "shackle key" hole at the pommel end allows for easy lanyard attachment.
Carries via a right hand, tip-up, stainless steel carry clip.
Blade: The XOC exhibits the curves and lines Flavio Ikoma is known for with a large, sweeping recurve blade of CTS-XHP for high-end performance. The blade deploys fast and smooth via an index flipper or can be opened utilizing the thumb stud pins or "shackle key" blade cutout. A beautiful satin finish adds to the custom feel of this limited production piece.
CTS-XHP: An ultra-high-carbon stainless steel that combines the exceptional corrosion resistance of 440C and wear resistance similar to D2. Thanks to the unique composition and its ability to attain a high hardness, CTS XHP has edge retention somewhere between S30V and ZDP 189. An excellent choice for any knife that is going to see a lot of use.
