Five things make a postable day

Yesterday started off with a long conversation with my son on the nature of games. I had made the assertion early in the morning that most Facebook games were better described as toys. This lead to a long discussion which caused me to extend my categorizations to games, contests, toys, and tasks. I'm still trying to nail down a good set of definitions, but this feels like the right breakdown to me.

It was pretty cool to have this discussion. It may be the first time that Christopher has had a half hour discussion where he was mostly holding his own in an intellectual argument.

In the middle of the day I was tapped to speak to a group of high school students. They are involved in a summer camp program that teaches game development. Part of that program was a visit to our campus and a chance to listen to a couple of engineers talk about what it takes to get into the games industry. With any luck they won't be scarred for life.

I only did one Aikido class last night; the beginner's class. We had two very new people there, three fairly advanced students, and me. This meant that the new guys didn't have me inflicted on them; the advanced students rotated through working with them. It also meant that I spent almost the entire class in continuous throws. My legs are sore tonight.

I rounded out the evening by executing a Cunning Evil Plan. And I've been promised pictures, or at least a good description of the look on a certain Knight's face, so amusement will result.

Yesterday was a pretty busy day, and as you can see, that's only four things. So you can see why I don't post more often.

life, work, aikido
