I seem to do a lot of these. As an infrequent blogger, there is a desire to make my very sparse updates seem meaningful in some way. If I wanted to be writing meaningfully about my life, I'd have to get a better life.
One work-related thought: Stereotypes (archetypes if you're being flattering) are useful in creating game characters. They get so little in the way of character building moments that the shorthand provided ramps up the player's response quickly. L4D2 uses four fairly blatant stereotypes for the main characters, and I think does it badly. My new rule is: Don't use stereotypes that exist to belittle a subgroup. L4D2's redneck character irritates the crap out of me. This doesn't get into RE5 territory, but it's enough to detract from the game.
It's a high-stress period in our household, most of which I don't feel like blogging about . Work is complex and unsettled for the adults, school is complex and unsettled for the kid. Last I checked this was called "life".
