Playing catch-up

I don't update as much as I should, so I've decided to just ramble a bit.

This weekend was positive, despite two bad movies and a pretty bad headache Sunday.

Friday was a "team building" day. I'm at the point where I could live without going to another of these ever again in my entire life. We did go out to see Clash of the Titans, which is tangentially related to the game we're making. I'm glad I didn't pay money to see that; I thought it sucked. This bad movie experience was compounded by trying to watch District 9 on Saturday night. The movie was voted off the dvd player by all present. I can see where they were going, but I didn't need to go there with them. If I wanted to watch a mixture of incompetence and evil screw over a minority group, I'd pay for CSPAN.

I've been going through a dry spell on both the reading and writing fronts. I am finding it harder and harder to get back into any of the WIP I have going. I have some ideas on that, but it may come down to starting something totally new.

On the reading front, I picked up Elizabeth Moon's Oath of Fealty last week and quite enjoyed it. While I think it could be read by someone not familiar with The Deed of Paksenarrion, some of the story lines will engage you more if you've read the earlier work. This series has moved into a hardcover purchase for me. I've also got an older Patricia Wrede fantasy novel and a brand new Butcher novel waiting for me to have time for them. I'm trying to hold off. I was hoping to use novel-in-90 as a goad to write more; and it's already become novel-in-85. Addictive reading is just going to make this harder.
