It's been something of a weekend, and something of a week. I got most of a post written yesterday, but had to leave to rescue the kid and abandoned it.
Last weekend was a write off. I intended to get some stuff done at home and then come into work to do some re-plumbing of a new feature. Instead I spent most of the weekend fighting a headache that was trying to turn into a migraine. It never quite reached the nausea and extreme photosensitivity of a true migraine, but I was very much not a happy camper. Monday and Tuesday I still had the post-headache hangover, today this has morphed back into a medium-grade headache.
I've turned into a real wimp in this regard. I remember going out to fight with headaches as bad as I had on Saturday - Pennsic 11 comes to mind - but these days if I'm not forced to respond I tend to shut down. I'm impressed by people like
lifeofglamour, who keep functioning at a fairly high level with migraine. You have my heartfelt (shoulders/neck/head)-felt sympathy. I hope the migraine regimen works.
Work is consuming my life right now, so of course this is when Kat's work turns suddenly busy. In many ways this is a good thing - extra work for her is extra income for us, unlike extra work for me - but the timing is inconvenient. Christopher is also overscheduled this year. I think next semester we put much stricter limits on the number of classes he's allowed to sign up for. Enthusiasm is fine, but some down time is required.
The rescue last night was due to a failure of planning on his part. He had a major project due, which he didn't really pay attention to. So when he took in his first attempt, it was woefully inadequate. With his dance schedule he didn't really have time to fix it, so he and I blew off dance and work respectively, to sit in a restaurant with my laptop modifying his assignment. It's very hard not to correct his language while he dictates; but I managed - all I did on this was type and make some very minor suggestions.
And now it's a day later, and I still haven't posted. Work last night until about 10, then failed to fall asleep until almost 2am. Yeah, today is going to work out great.
Work progressed yesterday, at least. It's going to be a hard push to shippable, but it looks like we'll get there.
