killing fields

Summer passes in Austin. Things are well at the new (not-so-new) house on the East side. My tomato plants are amazingly still producing tomatos; later this evening I plan to make gazpacho using garden grown basil and tomatos which I'm excited about.

The job is going all right. I'm learning and getting better at my craft; I'm also getting more used to the workload but the amount of work required is still really high. I essentially need to work 60+ hour weeks for the remaining months of July-November (end of the billing year) to make my targets. You join the game, you play by the rules. When my student loans are paid off and I have money in the bank, instead of a multi-five-digit negative net worth, then I can start to reassess things. But I don't see that point coming for a couple years.

Plan to make it to Houston soon, it's literally been a year since I last hung out with my peeps there, which is an unacceptable absence. Luckily the H-town folk have rolled thru Austin often enough that I haven't been completely out of touch.
