[You get treated to some Beatles again today, friends. Only in the background, though. It's that kind of day.] For once, I don't actually have anything to say about that. Well, that hasn't already been said. It was awful and terrifying enough the first time that something like this came along and I really didn't want to repeat it. I couldn't even ( Read more... )

let's change things up, checking on other people, all kinds of headaches, post flood, complaints get you nowhere

I can lend you some oil lamps of mine.

Can I ask what for, or is it just a matter of it being dark?

Thank you.

It's just dark.

Then you are most welcome to use them.

That's a nice song, by the way.

Thank you. It seems poetry and good music is a trend. I thought I might give my own.

After your time, though.

A rather good trend, if you ask me.

I had guessed as much, but it doesn't stop me appreciating it.

They have all sorts of songs. Many of them are a little more...upbeat.

...I was going to ask if there was a reason for that song in particular.

Do you have any... records of theirs?

There was. But it might ruin it if I try and explain.

I just have tapes, but I can let you borrow it and a player, if you want. I actually think I only have one record here and it was given to me. And it's certainly not the Beatles.

Understandable. You are welcome to, though.

I may have to take you up on the offer. Can I ask what the record is?

I'll trade you borrowed lamps for a borrowed player with a Beatles tape.

And it's Art Mooney.

Sounds like a fair enough trade.

An American artist?

I assume so. I can bring it one day and let you listen to it. I haven't actually been able to do that in months since no one I know has the capabilities.

Really? Are they so obsolete by your time?

greatlightother August 23 2011, 01:59:51 UTC
Yes. Well, almost, yes. It's all tapes or CDs now.

Ah, so the record was not yours to begin with? Or... a curiosity, perhaps?

No. It was given to me here, by a...friend who lived during the forties.
