I think I like...whatever that was...more than regular floods. At least no one is stuck thinking 'this isn't right!' when they see their friends acting strangely.

I don't suppose it matters much, though. We'll get what we get. The...luck of the draw, yes?

Oh it is only a little more than that. I'm just keeping a promise. Do you want me to bring it to you or do you want to get it yourself?

[By that afternoon, she had calmed down from talking to Ardent and had allowed herself a bit of a break, just to get infirmary duties out of her mind. She was curled up in her chair, idly watching some mindless romantic comedy film. The door was slightly ajar, as Sveta was nothing if not trusting.]

[Sveta glanced up at the knock, though his arrival was really no surprise to her.]

You can come inside! [She sang it more than said it and stood up quickly to greet him.]

[She shrugged once.] As well as ever, I suppose. [Keeping her grin, she stepped beside her desk and pulled out something from a drawer, concealing it in her hand.]

I promised you that when I celebrated Victory Day, I would make sure you were here. Well, it's a bit late, but...[She trailed off.]

[She nodded and held out a ribbon to him.] Exactly. And...I don't have a pin, so you can wear it on your wrist. [She pointed to her hair, where an identical ribbon was tied.] Do you want something to drink?

[She was already pouring two glasses of wine. It was nothing special, of course, but it would be good enough for them.] I'm really not sure how a celebration like this should go. I usually just go to the parade and then go to work to treat all the people who got too drunk and did something stupid.

[She handed him a glass and turned off the television in favor of her little stereo. She already had music playing and just turned it up to be background noise.] They play this at the parades all the time.

My grandfather loved this one the most, so I always think of him.
