Case File 02 [Voice/Action, Early evening]

Sep 04, 2011 00:25

[Zenigata has spent the better part of the last month stalking around the village, looking surly and generally pretty cranky.  Anyone who tries to bother him was pretty much ignored, as the Inspector seemed somewhat absorbed in his own thoughts.  Today, however, is a little bit different.  He's finally over his...brooding and grumbling and seems to ( Read more... )

@smoker, @jigen, drinking, @goemon, zenigata gets introspective..., @fujiko, rambling

Nothing is stopping you from changing your job here. And we all could have been a lot of things.

Yea...I guess thats true. But...when I get back I can't just...y'know...stop being a policeman. Hell, I've been a cop for nearly 25 years. All those instincts don't just fade away.

Then you take your instincts and everything you've learned on the job and adapt them to something new. Got skills you can teach? Yeah them. Have something new you've always wanted to try? Try it.

[He sounds like he's slightly sobered up...slightly]
Eh? Teach? I...guess...I could do that. Could give lessons on handcuffing scumbags from a distance. I guess...I just never thought I'd be stuck in a place where being a cop is pointless, and where I'd actually be...y'know...settled down.

[a pause, then the satisfied grunt of a man drinking a shot of something strong]

Who the heck are you anyway?

Not necessarily pointless. No, you probably won't be chasing down criminals left and writing and dolling out citations, but there's still people to help and protect here. Unless you didn't become a cop to do that.

Ginia.

'course I became a cop ta help people. Whats the point of being one if you don't do your damn job? Serve and Protect, yea? I mean, I'm with Interpol, so I gotta deal with all kinds a real wackos. Like this one bastard who was tryin' ta make the Leaning Tower sink into the ground with some weird earthquake machine. I tell ya though, there are some real incompetents on the force these days though...

[Another drink]

Oh. and...I'm *hic* Zenigata.

I probably don't need to tell you how many people don't do their job or aren't on the force to serve and protect. And that sounds like quite the story. How'd that turn out?

Yea...you're right. I've hauled in quite a few dirty cops over the years. Punks, just using the job to get drugs and other bullshit like that. Then there are those brutality cases in America. Man, it makes me glad I joined the force in Japan.

Oh, that wacko doctor? Well, I was chasing Lupin, and somehow that bastard ended up in his lab. Not real sure why, though. Anyway, I ended up nabbing the doctor, figured he was more dangerous than Lupin at the time...

Who is Lupin? You've mentioned him a few times now.

Lupin? Lupin is a thief, a bastard, and a world-class troublemaker! A real pain my ass. He's the only crook who's ever gotten away from me, and I'm gonna get him one day, and toss his skinny behind in jail.

Always the one that got away. Catching him would be the pinnacle of your career?

Absolutely. Its my life's purpose, catching that guy. He's a total jerk I tell ya. I mean, once he actually STOLE the statue of Jesus in Rio!

Sounds like quite the heist. How did he manage that?

A helicopter, some heavy duty wires, and a group of those incompetent police we were talking about before. More concerned with money and fancy technology than good detective work.

[He seems to have cooled it a bit with the booze, his voice clearing up a little bit]

Wow. Impressive. [A good heist can always be appreciated.]

Was the statue recovered and return?

Yea, you think it'd be easy to fence a UNESCO landmark? I think Lupin just does stuff like that to piss me off.
