This american fight

looking at crime stats, there is an awful lot of violent crime in the states. But the good news is that because of war torn countries we're only 24th in murders, and maybe assault isn't recorded as well in those countries.

But why in such a powerful economy do we have so much violent crime compared to others. One is that we aren't those countries.. our communities are at most 300 years old, compared to 1000 plus in europe and asia. We don't have the same pride in where we come from.
The other explanation might be conjecture, but I think it's the pursuit of happiness. I'm not going as far as entitlement personality, but certainly when a peasant was given the same status as a king, he feels he has the right to get what he wants. Psychologically the means can overrule morals and ethics, but it comes form the great American experiment.

While the jury is out on whether the great american experiment works, or worked, we can say it has changed the way people think. I I'd like to see American isolationism return to continue the experiment.. the other school of thought is that we evolved to where we are now inside the experiment. I'd like to think people are capable of good more so than evil, and therefore I'm for liberty and against a large government.
But with how our government is so large, can it return to being smaller? Maybe, if it can it should and will through natural public attitudes toward it. If it can't how do we revisit it's organization and make it work for people and no in people's ways. No that wouldn't necessarily be smaller, but it would give greater power to the people. Instead of the defense department concentrating on work abroad it could be redirected toward boarders and natural disaster relief...I know the immediate criticism that we have offices for that already. I really don't see a way around making the military smaller in some way.. well maybe not drapa...cuz that stuff cool.
