Superman-doomsday dvd

Background: The death of superman was one of the biggest events in comic history, making national news the day it was announced. The death of superman graphic novel(the last nine comics with him) is the #1 best selling graphic novel of all time. The book superman/doomsday and The death and return of superman were also best sellers. So America, nay the world knows the story. And with the success of the batman Cartoon, they made a Superman cartoon. After years of running, the superman cartoon was canceled so that a Justice league Cartoon could be made. Justice league was given a bad time slot for cartoons, (face it prime time is when adults want their TVs back, after school is the real gold.) Justice league turned into Justice league unlimited to have a much broader focus on superheroes. Superman returns is an ok movie, my personal bias is against changing biology to suit the movie (a kryptonian/human hybrid is an awful idea). So I got excited when they actually took a story from the comic book for the straight to DVD movie about Superman doomsday.
Review: I was let down, first by not including the voices that made the cartoon so good. Anne Hache is manly enough to be Lois Lane, but not likable enough to drive her character and bring the audience along. Adam Baldwin is good as a gruffer superman, but the voice from the TV cartoon, was so much better.
The animation is similar to the TV, with changes made to all the main characters. Superman' cheekbones needed to be thought out. Lex Luther is now streamlined. And Lois is almost stick figure anime...Again lacking in comparison to the T Cartoon. Doomsday was made much taller for the animated movie, nearly twice the height of Superman.
But the story ticked me off the most, they have a damn script printed in so many formats already...just follow it...it worked for Sin City, 300, Dark city, and Any others based on graphic novels. I may be a purist when it come to that, but it's done just bad when I start thinking "wow, this is how Hollywood bastardizes story...for shame producer." The superman vs Doomsday fight should have been the most epic in the movie...leading into a stirring defeat. But me as the audience wasn't feeling the suspension of disbelief. Superman's death is more than a citywide tragedy...it's a galactic one. And no other superheroes were in the movie. So instead of the mighty morning we have the city in shock and Lex Luther talking to himself.
**spoiler**
The rest of the movie is just him coming back to fight a bad clone(and not Superboy).
** end spoiler**
My main criticism is how badly this plot was handled, without the global impact shown it's just tripe that pulls me along teasing me for the movie that could have been made.
Hope: A death of superman live action would be great... no resurrection just the last epic battle and everything leading to it. But for now...I'll just have to read the old copy in my room, or the novel, or the trading cards... and everything else that had continuity.
