13 things I learned in the Freshmen Orientation Program

Jun 10, 2010 11:08

I posted this in FB ages ago. Just thought of doing it here, since I'll be posting maybe this friday THE 13 THINGS I LEARNED IN THE FIRST DAYS OF CLASS.

a.k.a. all that my mind absorbed

1. FRESHIES is a widely accepted term for freshmen in THE University of the Philippines. T.T

2. Visit uvle.upd.edu.ph to be like Isko and not be clumsy as Iska. Courtesy of DILC’s video presentation.

3. We have a hospital in the university. As in with ER and everything. (*squels* reminds me of Clamp School… anyone? n.n)

4. Student Assistants work at a rate of 30/hr. with a limit of 120 hours a month. (might try)

5. The university has 10 residence halls. Well, not that I care, but I did write it down in my notes. :)

6. There are more than 500 student organizations, and THEY, the administration, advised us to wait a year before entering any of these 500 or so organizations. OH. I CAN’T WAIT to JOIN any of these: Publications, Anime-related, Debate, Board Games, Writing and the likes.

7. The contact number of UP Police is 928-36-15. I totally saved it in my contacts. Weird of me acting cautious.

8. USC President: E for All. E as in Education, Employment, Equality, and Empowerment. (of his whole speech, this was what I retained)

9. DLRC: UP Education is about CARING not SCARING, NURTURING not TORTURING.

10. Computer rentals at DLRC are at 15/hr. and freshmen, if they have the pink cards, get 20 hours FREE. Wee. :)

11. DILC and DLRC are different.

12. UP is a large body. I just realized that. I’ve been underestimating it all this time. My Bad. *_*

13. They are PROUD of what they do, which would seem ridiculous to others, including ME. Well, for now, I think they’re ridiculous. But maybe, once I get to know inside information, I’ll GET it.
