*any musician or group of musicians that perform concerts that I attend I consider a rockstar. It just makes my life seem more interesting this way.
Altogether, I've enjoyed my day of shopping for rockstars. My trunk is a solid cube of soda, water, and snapples while the backseat looks like party central -- chips, salsa, paper plates, and of course... party cups! I know that rockstars don't appreciate the 'little people' like me who hauled ass around the city to try to find Louza banana juice. Still... I'll feel appreciated as they slobber through their deli trays, toss an "Adios!" from over their shoulders, as they leave me in a mass of crumbs, furiously protecting the downstairs from a critter picnic. And as I listen to J5 start up Quality Control on Saturday night, I'll smile at their unspoken song dedication... knowing that it is indeed myself who is on quality control this weekend.
For those UofC folks who can come... the concert should be great. Some punk (GBV), some hip hop (J5), some jazz jam (MMW). I'd love to see you at the show!
In other news, I had a wonderful day. After reviving from the depressing Whole Foods --> Jewel/Osco transition and finishing off our shopping lists, I nabbed a terrific sandwich (called Kirsten's Favorite) from the U-Market. A good meal will always set you off on the right foot. I spent the day MAB-ing campus, then had some mid goodness, topped off with Leannie's EXCELLANT performance. The opera itself was creepy and somewhat weird since everyone was getting beat up then sobbing into ppl's knees or crotches. Yet I still really liked the whole premise. And Leann did such a good job -- I truly thought she LIT up the stage and her voice was impecable.
Then... highlight of the day: DEPOT.
It was such fun to go with the girls, consume the greasy delicious fries/burgers/sausages, and talk/bitch/tease. I've been such a grouch for the past month it seems, and everything finally seemed to click and I finally was able to relax. No more forced laughter because I "just wasn't in the mood" and wanted to avoid questions by faking enjoyment -- just natural fun. Hanna/Hana were the Korean contingent, and Wex was delightful too, which somewhat appeased that part of me that is still upset with the mid-situation. Leannie tells stories so well (actually, perfect!), and Emila is so witty... they're a supapowerteam of bliss! What'll I do when we all eventually leave Illinois? Thank god for email and FLOM!
And beyond all this goodness, my Winamp loves me today. It played Radiohead -- No Surprises, Pink Floyd -- Great Gig in the Sky, Modest Mouse -- Night on the Sun, Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire -- Glass Figurine, then Yann Tiersen -- Rue des Cascades before switching to some Supergrass song I'm ultimately sick of.
Would you rather have cockroaches permanetly attached to the bottom of your feet or only be able sing, never able to speak?
