Practically worthless

LJ has become increasingly unstable, unresponsive and just plain unusable lately. I guess my theory of LJ becoming less and less relevant in my use going hand-in-hand with SUP Fabrik (the Russian LJ owners now) trying to monetize the thing like another Facebook is true. Usually, site issues like this have resulted in some sort of compensation to ( Read more... )

Phil, I'm glad you posted that.. because I'm finding it increasingly difficult to post in other LJ users' journals. I thought it might be a computer issue.. but now, what you've said worries me, because I know it's not just I who has been experiencing this.

That " You have been temporarily banned from LJ for trying to use LJ too quickly" thingies pop up often.. sometimes, I have to post twice because " Internet Explorer cannot show the page" messages will appear.

It can take a while before I'm able to open another LJ user's journal. It's getting beyond annoying.

When did SUP Fabrik buy LJ?

Some sites usually go all wonky like this before they disappear altogether, so, yeah, pencil me in as being " concerned" here.

Ps - I want a LOT more than a virtual puppy!

I just the site working well again!

...you're actually still using Internet Exploder?!

WHY?!

Opera, Firefox, Chrome or even Safari are all vastly superior choices.

I don't know for sure about the rest, but I know the latest versions of Opera can still run even on Windows 9x, so there's just no excuse for using that piece of garbage M$ foists on Windows users. (Okay, okay - IE8 isn't as heinous as IE6 was - but it's still distinctly inferior, IMNSHO.)

If I switch to FireFox, how do I replace I.E.?

Since M$ has installed IE's tendrils deep into the guts of Windows (which is a big chunk of the problem with respect to malware), you don't/can't remove or "replace" IE - you just stop using it and use Opera, &c. instead for your web browsing.

DreamWidth.

I have an account there, but I've never used it in part because my community is still here, and also because of what it would cost to get similar features as to those I have on my "permanent" account here.

I don't know if any of you have LJ maintenance as part of your friends list as it explains what's happening.

In essence, the front server is overloaded, preventing people to access the rest of the site as we ALL have to go through it and their trying to redistribute things more evenly is what I understand.

They appear to be working on this as fast as they can to stabilize things and I don't think LJ is going anywhere - yet.

At least that's what they are saying anyway.

And the throw us these god damn pop up ads that take over the whole screen and hijack your computer. It sucks because I like the 15 or so people I have here as friends and don't want to loose contact with them but I find myself on here less and less all the time.I knew it was going to go down in flames when the Russians took it over.Another fine example of "free market capitalism" At work making our lives better!
