Punxsutawny Phil thanks you

Feb 02, 2006 23:27

A big thank you to everyone who wished me well today on my birthday. You guys are great friends in my book.

It's only by coincidence that I share the same name as the famous meteorologist woodchuck from Punxsutawny, PA. Needless to say, I get a lot of ribbing and questions as to whether or not I see my shadow on my way out the door on my birthday (for the record, I did this time). The way most people know it, if a groundhog sees his shadow in the morning on Groundhog Day, it means six more weeks of winter. C'mon people, look at a calendar. Groundhog or not, it's about six weeks from now till the beginning of Spring. More accurately, if said varmint casts a shadow, it means the next six weeks of winter weather will be colder and more severe. As it stands, in most areas the colder days seemed to happen in November and December, with January being unusually mild, with a few t-shirt 'n' jeans days for me. I'm not complaining.

A big, furry hug from your favorite winter weather predictor.
