That Same Old Place That You Laughed About

Brooklyn, NY
The old building didn't look as run down as he remembered back in the day, but it was still the same old place. This place had a lot of good memories. He was smart enough to know those memories could have easily been not-so-good if things had been a little different. He sure wouldn't be here with a teaching certificate. He headed up the stairs when he saw the principal coming out.
"Here to check out your new classroom?" he asked.
"Yes I am, Mr. Kotter."
"Welcome back, Mr. Barbarino."

End notes: Obviously the fandom is the old 70s show "Welcome Back, Kotter" and the characters are Gabe Kotter and Vinnie Barbarino. Sorry, but as soon as I saw the topic for this challenge, I had an instant earworm.
(I doubt I will write anything else in this fandom, so don't bother adding characters and fandom unless you want to.)
