Jane Eyre post with bonus Justin Bieber

I'm about a quarter of the way through Jane Eyre. First time reading it. The reasons I don't like it at this point are numerous, but most importantly are the semicolons. Semicolons are, hands-down, my favorite punctuation mark, so if Charlotte Bronte causes me to have violent reactions to them in the future I will be most put out. Semicolons and ( Read more... )

Stay out of Gothic literature, Justin Bieber!

AHAHAHAHAHA. OMG. It's been forever since I read this. You've reminded me of how much I pretended to like it.

Is there anyone who ACTUALLY likes this book, instead of just pretending to? I need to know whether I should prepare my Incredulous, Judging Looks to fire in their general direction.

Does it get better? I'm to the point where he's talking about how his French opera dancer mistress cheated on him, and it was OK and all, but he still had to shoot the other dude in the arm of course. I'm not sure I want to finish it.

I really don't remember, but I know I finished it and I do remember ranting to my mom about all the characters and how they relate.

HAHAHA, oh, this post is hilarious. I've only ever seen movie versions, and those were infuriating enough. Good God, I don't know how so many people worship this book. They must be insane.

I know, right? I was kinda "meh?" for awhile about Pride and Prejudice worship--but I love how Austen writes and I am not completely infuriated by all her characters all the time, and it's an enjoyable book to read (and Mr. Darcy's dreeeeeamy).

But Jane Eyre?! JAYSUS, people!

I'll give that site a shot; it would provide a way to avoid the semicolons at least. (HOLY SHIT, THEY'RE FOLLOWING ME!)

This is a neat site!
