I guess this counts as spoilers, so... under a cut.
So I'm watching a Let's Play of the first episode of The Walking Dead, and we're at the motel, and this chick who kept trying to get the group to go away wants the gun so she can off herself. Makes sense, right? Generally speaking it does. But this chick also says stuff like how this stuff isn't "Christian" and those "things" are "Satanic" and hang on there a moment, partner.
Okay, maybe she's not a Catholic, because otherwise I have a serious issue here (and, I guess, a lot of Catholics in her situation would, too?). Suicide is like, a horrible, horrible thing to a Catholic, or so I understand. You go to Hell for shit like that. I understand that despair is a terrible sin because it leads to actions like what this woman is wanting to do.
So, if she's not Catholic I'm mostly okay with how this is playing out. But if she is? How does that work? She goes to Hell because she offs herself, or she goes to Hell because of something completely out of her control? Naw. I can't buy that on the second one, so this boils down to going to Hell so she won't be one of "them".
I'm just stuck on what must be a horrifyingly difficult and awful decision. But I expect I'd shoot myself, too, under those circumstances.
