Breaking the silence here finally, it's been... probably two years?
A lot has been going on, but I'll make things simple for brevity's sake.
I finished my Bachelor's degree in Japanese. I received it from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, in May 2007. Hawaii was a great experience.
I also managed to visit Hiroshima for a two-week course on peace while I was an undergraduate at the U of Hawaii. That was also a fantastic experience, and only whetted my appetite for Japan more.
My current situation is this: I applied for and got accepted into the JET program as a CIR (Coordinator for International Relations) (not as fancy as it sounds). I'm heading on a flight to Japan on Saturday, and I'll be in Japan for at least a year.
This is something I've been hoping for since I got out of high school: a job living in Japan for a decent length of time. This makes me very, very happy. :)
Of course I'm going to miss all my friends and family here in San Antonio, very much in some cases, but I'll only be a Skype or an Internet away.
My location in Japan will be a small town of 10,000 called Anamizu, located on the Noto peninsula in the Ishikawa prefecture. Not very close to anybody on my list in Japan, but I do plan on making excursions. :p Country life will get me very close to the heart of Japan, but it'll likely get somewhat dull at times too, so I'm planning for all possibilities.
More will be to come in the following days and weeks... stay tuned!
