Ah, yes. Colloquial teenage lingo. Allow me to offer what will hopefully be useful information.
pwned: a very geeky phrase, often used to signify defeat over another lesser things. (ex: I PWNED that calculus exam! or Dude, you got totally pwned in Zelda yesterday.)
hook up: this varies regionally. People in some groups often use it to just mean making out, but it also doubles as something further, ie everything that falls short of actual sex.
macking: making out, but I've always taken it as sort of a less intense version
emo: a type of music, and also a type of person. A common variation of the music is referred to as "screamo" for it's whiny vocals and depressing themes. "Emo" kids sport several key fashion trends, including but not limited to tight jeans, studded belts, tight t-shirts with assorted graphics/phrases on them, unnaturally-dyed black hair, heavy eyeliner, black nail polish, swooped bangs, and Converse shoes. Easily confused with "scene." Not to be confused with "goth."
indie: I think you're pretty much right on this one...it's just a subset of music, film, and lifestyle characterized by being offbeat, independent, non-mainstream, etc.
I'm not saying you're not cool, I'm just saying that I am so much cooler than you that I pwn you at being cool. Given the enormous cool factor I have, you being pwned by my cool is really a compliment. Like "Yeah! You just got pwned by Anna's coolness! Awesome!!"
