It was a pretty good Christmas, though Heather had a migraine the whole day, which did put a damper on things. Also, her mom wasn't able to come to Long Beach with us, which was a shame but I know she would have been miserable Christmas evening, what with the extreme excess of my extended family's gift-giving.
This year I gave in to my relatives and made wish lists on Amazon and ThinkGeek, which meant that while most of the gifts I got weren't particularly surprising, they were things I
wanted. The two standout surprise gifts of the year were three DVDs of the Best of Ren and Stimpy (thanks Mom!) and something I've wanted since high school... a Van de Graff generator!
Friday we went to Heather's friend Roz's extended family get-together, which was fun. Her grandfather is a charmer and quite a storyteller . Her cousin is about 15 and at that "awakening to the wide world of ideas" stage, which (I feel so condescending for saying this) is kinda cute to see.
Saturday Heather, Roz and I went to a barbecue at
Pasajera's parents house, which was a LOT of fun. Pasajera's b/f Chris,
Moonlitcirce, and
Brodius257 were all there. It was one of those gatherings that makes me actually consider moving just to be around such great people more often. Trouble is it would mean not just moving to SoCal but to Redlands. No thanks.
More stuff happened but those were the highlights. Hope y'all had a good Christmas too.
