I just finished reading House of Leaves. All I have to say about it is thusly: What the frag did I just read? Honestly, I have no clue! Was the house a real place? Was it all in Zampanò's head? Was it all in Johnny's head? Why did it end the way it did? (Why did Johnny get my hopes up in that bit near the end, you know which one I'm talking about.) What's in the house? Is there anything in the house? Why did the house do what it did in the end? Was there really a 'Mr. Monster'? (Best part of the book, I swear.) What? How?
ETA: Silent Hill 2 was rumoured to be inspired by this book. *Shivers*
(Do not let this rant dissuade you of ever reading this book. Run, don't walk and find a full/two color edition of this book, and plan to have your mind blown.)
(Also: Why do I really want to see a Transformer's version of House of Leaves? 'Cause, I really do.)
